Good think you like meats, something that i'm going to try to help me is buying large beef roast joints, roasting them, slicing them into sandwhich sized portions and then freeze them.

I've noticed recetly that most supermarkets sell large bags of fish and chicken breast, if you haven't already you should check these out. They're not the 'perfect' pieces that you'd find if you paid more but it's the same stuff.

what you're seeing now is beginners gains...literally any sort of activity in the gym will make your body grow, when that stops you're gona need a proper routine, search the forum theres loads that have been posted

Yeah I get these, Tesco do frozen chicken breasts for £4 per kilo :)

Chicken is cheaper and easier

And very boring if you have too much, can get easily sick of it!

Well i've been going for 2 months 2-3 days a week (usually 3) so yes, I am serious about it. Reason why i've been satisfied so far is that I have made some really significant gains... so I guess I got into a routine of sloppinesss as I hadn'tt yet hit the point where I wasn't seeing any effects.

Don't knock yourself, you've started a good thing. You will show gains in the first couple months from doing pretty much anything but you'll hit a brick wall and never grow again unless you get a decent routine. I think we could write you a decent 3 day a week routine, or 2 if you would prefer.

As for what I want to do, I want to build myself up and get a good body on me... by that I mean an overall muscular and defined physique. I think i'm limited by the fact I haven't yet got my rear in gear and learned all the different types of exercise available. And I know "machines" is a bit of a swear word but I have seen huge gains fomr the abs one, and the only other I use is the ne that works my shoulders/back muscles and that has also given me some good gains.

Building yourself up and getting a good physique means going through the phases of bulking and cutting. It won't take you long to learn about different types of supplements and what they do, when to take, why you should take them and soon enough you'll be able to explain to people why you do it.

I don't like machines, but I will concede that some are decent. I do not mind SOME ab machines, and SOME calf machines, and I LOVE the leg press (The proper one). But you will get most gains using free weights. You will train the muscle group you are focusing on and you will also hit many stabilizer muscles and become stronger all round.

As for diet i'm not really limited by cash, though naturally I don't want to spend a fortune by any means. I'm a bit of a fussy eater but like the following:

*Cereals (weetabix mainly). - Excellent, weetabix is good.

*Beef/lamb/chicken/pork. - Meat is good, you will need to eat this regularly.

*Most veg. - Again, good man

*Pasta! - Excellent! A very good source of carbs.

*Most fruit (apples oranges, melons, bananas, strawberries, grapes etc).

Due to my job i'm only really going to be able to eat cereal in the morning, for lunch i'd either have to make it before I left, or do what I usually do and buy a sandwich/salad at ze shops. Evening would be my main meal, but then again if i'm going to the gym i'd only really be able to do it afterwards when I ifnish, say 8pm or so.

This is a perfect place for shakes. If you don't really have time then supplment with shakes, protein and carbs in there and it's basically a meal replacement. All you have to do is mix it in the morning and you're away, take a couple to work with you and you're sorted. This will keep you going.

In regards to reaching what goal?

With supplements like whey or just purely real food you buy from supermarket?

From real food. I was thinking of includings oats in it. With possibly some protein powder mixed in. No particular goal in mind, just a change from having cereal with bananas on toast and a protein shake. :)

This is it. Bulking up on steak isn't cheap, especially nice steak. We can all buy cheapo steak but it isn't very nice sometimes...
Mustard? :p. My parents have a chest freezer full of steak from a local farm, and a hot plate. Easter holidays is going to be good .

If you could help me with that I would be so favourable towards you it is hard to describe. Possibly even sexually.

True, but I need a bit of variation, I got bored of chicken and tuna.

Whey, blended oats, banana and milk. Maybe add some more fruit in if you want, I used to have this as my shake but it was too inconveniant to make.

Bulking:

Whey - 30g
Oats - 100g
Milk - Full fat - 400ml
Flaxseed - 10g
Cocoa Powder 10g

700kcals - 55g Protein - 100g Carbs - 30g Fat - 11g Fibre
(loads of good fats and fibre and more antioxidants than a few cups of green tea ;))

Cutting:

Whey 40g
Oats 50g
Flaxseed 10g
Cocoa Powder 10g

330kcals - 34g Protein - 45g Carbs - 15g Fat - 7g Fibre
(again plenty of good fats and fibre and same again antioxidants)

You could always throw in some raw eggs and cut back on the whey for more 'real food'. Watch out for the extra calories from the fat though, the yolks are very calorie dense. I didn't add them as not many people are willing to drink raw eggs.

My breakfasts are now rolled oats (cheap value ones), unflavoured whey, 2 raw egg whites, banana, frozen summer fruits or honey and water. Blitz for a minute and drink! Use it to wash down some fish oils, multi vits etc.

Only thing is the washing up is a pain :(

MTA99 have you tried the Organic Jumbo Rolled Oats??

Ok they're twice the price of the cheap value supermarket ones but they are so much nicer. More fibre and nutrients too. Still a heck of a lot cheaper than MP's powdered oats :)

I'll never go back now. £1.20 for 750g is hardly going to break the bank.
