Nah it just rips my palm and creates calluses which are annoying.

Yeah was thinking this too, but since yesterday I've put 4 of that back on.

Maybe I'm not getting enough calories when I'm cutting and unknowingly starving myself :(

Any tips?

My bodyweight fluctuates wildly, the difference between a morning weigh in and a night weight in can be as much as 4lbs but not 9.

weigh yourself at one time of the day, its the only way to be consistent.
also, make sure that you dont weigh yourself on carpet unless your scales are made to work on carpet.
 
Just a big thanks for all the advice in the thread on in this section of the board, its been 2 months since my lifestyle change and I'm really noticing the difference now. I've been eating like a pig, healthily of course, adding in oat and protein supplements, have been going to the gym 3-4 times a week, and I've pretty much doubled the weight I was lifting to begin with (that kinda shows how skinny I was!). I used to weight 10st 4, now I'm 11st 4 - at 5'10).

I'll stick some comparison pics up in another month or so's time so the difference is more evident along with my progress, but this is possibly the best thing I've done in my life. I feel better, look better and have something to work towards and be passionate about. I've also learnt a lot on the way. So thanks for the inspiration and help!

I'm glad you've taken to it so well.

Take pictures as often as you can, even if you're not going to post them but you can look back yourself. It's great to see your progress.
 
Well I got rid of all the machines but the lateral pull since its good for the back :). So now im using all freeweights and many exercises with them, so that mixed in with my daily cardio should do fine. So about 6 months down the line I should be better eh?

1 point, dont be shy about using the machines, they have their place in everyones routines in one way or another :]

Im not but people here think that its better to use freeweights.

in a lot of scenarios it is, however, a machine can be great for that last set when you are on your own, you can go a bit heavier in a safer environment, it will also isolate the muscle group a bit more.

good for warm up sets, rehabilitation and general usage (if used right). while there are a lot of better free weight exercises to be done rather than use a machine, it doesnt mean that variety should not be included in your routine :]
 
To the guys who do SLDLs, do you tend to keep your legs straight/knees locked or have a slight bend at the knees when doing this exercise?
