GOT A JOB INTERVIEW AT TESCO NEED help FORUM!

More background please - is this your first job? how old are you? are you still studying? makes a difference as to whether i can help you as my first job at 16 was at sainsburys
.

Kidnap a Tesco employee roughly that same size as you the night before the interview (killing optional) and turn up to the interview wearing a Tesco uniform and name badge. Catch them off guard

Goddamit you guys. Every time an interview thread comes up you fill it with BS about not needing a suit. OP, if own a suit then wear it. If you don't, wear the smartest clothes you own. If you do own a suit but choose not to wear it then you are an idiot who is actively trying to lower their chances of getting the job.

I laughed at 'fancy salary job' :D

He is going for a near minimum wage hourly paid job. Just being able to spell correctly and not looking like a chav puts you above most other applicants*.

*From my experience of working in student jobs (mainly Alton Towers).

WEARING A SUIT FOR A SUPERMARKET INTERVIEW IS LIKE WAVING A MIT DEGREE IN THEIR FACE DURING THE WHOLE INTERVIEW AND CHANTING NA NA NA NA NA NA
they will think you consider yourself above the demeaning role you are applying for

No they'll just see you've put in some effort to attend a formal interview by.....dressing formal.

Have a haircut if you need one badly and make sure you have a shave. Make sure your clothes are clean and not covered in dandruff (I see this on so many people these days - eugh!).
Be on time. Be polite.
Say you want the job to go alongside your studies or looking to get back into work if unemployed.

Are you ... are you joking? I can't tell if I'm being trolled but if I'm not I don't know what to tell you. Wow.

This really made me lol ......that it has come to the point where this advice is needed!

IMO a suit isn't necessarily essential, so do not panic if you don't have one/can't acquire one. However, try everything you can to get hold of one, it will greatly increase your chances as others have said. I would not go to an interview without wearing a suit.

shoes , black trousers and a shirt anything else is over the top

Not that it really matters but I personally wouldn't wear a suit to tesco unless it was a management possition - shirt, tie and trousers would probably suffice. I'd feel slightly overdressed in a 'white collar' suit.

Well, since a lot of people are saying they have got these and other types of jobs without wearing a suit, it does seem to indicate that it's not needed. It may be advantageous sure, and why not try to get any advantage, but its not essential

I've worked in accounts/finance for many years and have never owned or worn a suit. Hell, the first main job I landed in my 20's, I still had my long hair and wore a leather jacket *shrug*
