Just a little update.

I threw the card in another PC, where it was performing weird. During Valley and Furmark, the card would only boost to 862Mhz, despite being below 70c, with high fan speed. Leaving the fan speed at stock would result in the core reaching 85c in Valley, which then dropped the core to 826Mhz.

Overall, i must say, if the previous card failed because it was overheating, this one is doing the exact same. It's 5-10c hotter at all times, than the last faulty card, and the error in the mentioned benchmarks is happening much faster, than the first card.

Is there no way of seeing the VRM temperture on these card? And how do you test internally for overheating? The last card failed because of overheating, yet, i never saw the core temperature reach 85c, so it must be something else that is overheating?

What PSU do you have?

I had a crap one years ago and my 8800GT was doing all sorts of weird stuff. Turned out the PSU was terrible (plus I had 6 mechanical HDs, fans etc)

My PSU is a Corsair AX750, so i belive it should cope fine. Besides, it worked flawlessly before with the GTX780, before the original card went buttoms up. It is also running the replacement card i bought, a R9 280x Matrix just fine.

I think it's heat issues once again.

I just ran Valley Benchmark with stock card and fan, reached 80c in no time. After 3 minutes, the driver crashed.

Ramped the fan up to 85% and ran it again, this time the card maxed at 62c, passed Valley Benchmark twice before i stopped it, took it back to stock fan again and ran Valley Benchmark once more. Crashed after approxmiately 3 minutes again.

Might remove the cooler over the weekend before UPS pick it up monday, to check if EVGA actually put the thermal pads on the VRMs..

Quick question, I'm running a 780 Classified, I game with texture mods and get close to 3gb's at 1080p so I know the monitor upgrade I'm planning will go over that so I was going to go with AMD but then the 6gb 780's appeared so I decided to get two of those.

Here's a couple of questions,

Question 1,
There's two 6gb 780's currently, an EVGA and a Gainward. The core clock has the EVGA ahead but the Shader clock goes to the Gainward, Because core clocks are easily tweaked am I better off going with a pair of Gainwards?

Question 2,
I have to save and buy so if I buy the first 6gb 780 now can I sli it with the 3gb 780 Classified temporarily?
If I can are there any pointers or is there any info that I should know? If I can sli them I know that 3gb's is all the ram I'd have but the extra ram isn't needed until I get the monitor upgrade anyway, It would be nice to try out sli before I get the second 6gb model as I once tried crossfire and hated it.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

where did you get information about shader clocks of the cards from?

To SLI you need two times a card with the same ammount of RAM so it will not work.

Hi Dominik.
I have a EVGA GTX570 and a few days ago i got the pixelated screen on boot up, cant see a thing, just different colour lines all over screen.
Tried it again today and getting nothing on screen, it just stays blank.
Psu is Corsair 620w and its running a HD7970 now with no problems.

Purchase Date: 3/2/2012, i have registered it on EVGA.com and its still in warranty.

Whats the procedure for RMA?

Do you still have the sticker or did you throw this away?

Unfortunately I threw it away as I assumed there would be other identifiers on the card? To be honest I think the sticker is an odd choice for a S/N. After 3 years in a hot/dry case I am surprised any of these stay on...

I did raise a ticket & obtained an RMA. I did say sticker had gone but this does not seem to have been an issue so far?

Hello,

if the other card is running fine in the system it do sound like this one died. Just send an email with this informaiton and the S/N of the card to [email protected] they will then open a RMA ticket for you and you can request the RMA online.
Our RMA center is located in Munich Germany, most UK customer report parcel monkey is the cheapest way to get the card shipped. Let me know if you need my help at any point!

It is unlikely that you receive a 580 in replacement, it will more like be 670 or other equivilent replacement. We always replace by equal or better performance.

Thanks Dominik, the RMA has been approved.

At this point it normally shows 2x the clock of the card because it do not really exist anymore, not sure why it do not match with all cards there.

Okay cheer's, I was just about to order the sc but then I noticed the Classified is out of stock with no eta. Should I hang on rather than go with the 6gb sc. I'd prefer to switch my Class for another Class with more if it's coming.

of the normal 780 6GB the two models available are for now the only ones, we do not plan to release more 6GB model. On the Ti version we are working on more different 6GB skus but this is not finalized so far. As soon as this is done we will show the whole range of models we will make available.

Okay that gives me more of an idea about what to do, Thankyou for replying.

EDIT, Hold on, 2 models? What two models? I only know of an SC.

I know Gainward have one but you don't mean that do you, I also read about Asus's upcoming 6gb 780 model.

Hi Allnamestaken,

for questions like this it is always good to post the model number you are talking about :)
The TI SC is a ref PCB, have posted in the other thread also the link of EKs configurator, there you just need to enter the P/N you want to get and it will show you all compatible coolers available.
