Got asked for ID in Asda

I got ID'd at 32, it was funny, your reaction wasn't. If that's how you behave sober maybe the store shouldn't have sold you alcohol full stop.

You see, some people who work in any supermarket just have **** days, and the way they make themselfs feel better, is to annoy people.

They new you did not have I.D but just did it anyway :)

Happens to all of us

umm no it's usually store policy to ask for id.

and how would they know they didn't have it :/

Its a bit petty but at the end of the day the store and the specific employee(s) can be prosecuted for not checking ID - the store can be fined quite a bit and employees can be fined upto £5000... so you can't really blame them.

They can only be prosecuted if they sell to an underage person. There is no legal requirement to check for ID period - it is simply a means to an end.

can be prosecuted for not checking ID

Only for selling to 17 year olds and below.

I'm still waiting for when I do get ID'd so I can ask them if they have any.

Why is that? They don't need to provide ID, however you do.

That's called a provisional license.

Master of the obvious! That's the second thread where people have taken scorza's comment seriously.

Some staff are on power trip and just love to make a fuss over nothing.

Your paranoid, what they want to do is finish their shift and go home. They'd also like to be coming back to their job the next day, so they do as they're told, and get subjected to abuse from customers because of it.

Yeah, they're loving it.

Maybe it was funny because you had ID. However we were all ready to go after this but had to waste an hour to then not even show it. Dont see the point in making us waste our time really

This has got a bit out of hand.

ID'd ok, yeh that is annoying and ok maybe a certain situation where you couldnt fit any ID with you fair enough I think we'd all be annoyed.

But it doesnt change that it's just policy with most places and they probably weren't looking to specifically ruin your day.

Get over it

The store could be asked to prove what training is given to the checkout staff with regards to dealing with personal information ... driving licenses do have your full address on them afterall.

Why do people always moan about this? ASDA ID's anyone who looks under 25, they've many signs around the alcohol section, and tills stating this (at least my 2 local ones do).

Staff member follows their policy, and you moan about it? Get over it, they're just doing the job they're asked to do. If you're going to buy alcohol in ASDA bring ID in future.

Well it's your fault. There is no point trying to shift the blame on random people who work on checkouts who are 'out to get you'. They didn't finish their shift and laugh at you for forgetting it. They carried on, went home and that was it. Next time, take your ID. It's not hard. I'm sure your reaction wasted THEIR time and annoyed everyone else waiting behind you.

LOL I was being half-serious there. Though you wouldn't think it, there are some advantages of ID cards, the OP's situation being one of them (though whether it's worth the cost is another matter).

I didn't think of provisional driving licences because when I had mine it was a scrappy piece of paper, and it's not really on to expect people to apply for a licence when they have no intention of driving.

No. A guy behind us said "Its a ****ing joke, I will be asked for ID next" He was probably in his 50s
I would understand a bit more if they asked to see it when we had it, but they didnt

It's the same with clubs.

You see people proper kicking off, when a lot of places ID everyone.

But I guess some bouncers have ID a select few before, which is unfair.

I think it's best at clubs to just ID every single person that goes in, then there is no excuse for anyone kicking off

What does that have to do with my quote?

Did you see my previous post? Why didn't you go to another store?
