It's actually quite easy. Take their details on their first offence and ban them. If they get caught again, it's JAIL time.

Can you imagine the pressure that would put on the already pressured jails due to the sheer number of people that would be ignoring the ban? It's not feasible imo.

My problem is not how to house criminals and that's a whole different issue which I won't go into here, but how about criminals actually *pay* for their time inside as well? Why should taxpayers pay to process *and* detain anyway?

Yeah, them paying would be fantastic for us over-burdened tax-payers, I agree. But realistically given the current situation, what you suggest wouldn't be easily enforceable by any stretch of the imagination.
