GP2 & GP3 2013 Season

Yeah quite good. Gotta feel for Bird, but it was his stall that cost him.

But we will see who is racing in a top level next year. I don't think it will be Leimer.

I'd imagine that was an option for if he won the championship. Now that he hasn't he can stay in GP2 next year and work on getting into F1 for 2015.

Wouldn't winning the title in his fourth GP2 season make him another Leimer\Valsecchi though? He's already 26, I can't see Merc ditching Hamilton or Rosberg any time soon and short of a big cheque who else will take him in 2015?

A Mercedes customer maybe? Its how Di Resta got on the grid.

Such a shame that GP2 is broke as a feeder series.

I would have said Force India, but they already have Calado and probably Bianchi/Magnussen waiting in the wings by then. That's assuming Hulkenberg, Sutil and Di Resta all move on.

Stoffel Vandoorne to GP2 for 2014: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/111077

Kvyat secures the GP3 title by winning the feature race at Abu Dhabi.

Speaking of ex Formula Renault 3.5 drivers, Antonio Felix da Costa considers Indycar as a viable option: http://www.frenchmotorsport.com/2013/11/02/antonio-felix-da-costa-un-jour-en-indycar/

"IndyCar could be a possibility, the door remains open in F1 but there is a small opening. Running in the United States is very different. It's good to see young Europeans such as Luca Filippi succeed there."

Was good races this weekend.

Feel a bit for Bird, wasn't a great way to lose your shot at the title, like Skeeter says at least it gives him the possibilty to stay for another year. I actually though he was older than 26, he seems to have been around for ages :p I guess with teenagers coming straight through to F1 though he may aswell be older!

Still was nice to see Russian Time take the team title, wonder if they will be willing to keep their drivers despite them not bringing in the cash.

Wonder if Kvyat winning the title gives RB a little more confidence in their decision.

Interesting to see Magnussen and Vandoorne both testing, maybe they could end up in GP2 next season if McLaren can't get them a seat.

Conor Daly has said he couldn't raise the funds to be able to do a single test day... Again money topping everythign else :(

Tom Dillmann was to test all 3 days with Russian Time but won't be due to his neck injury.

Daly is rumoured to be heading to Indycar instead, he has ties with AJ Foyt Enterprises (who he drove for in the Indy 500).

That would be a shame, as I think Daly would do well in GP2 and have the potential to go on to drive in F1. :/

Sam Bird testing a GP3 car?

Russian Time are using him to do baseline setup work because of his experience, I think. It's funny, though. His prize for finishing runner up in GP2 is to test the lower-spec car. :p

Dean Stoneman must surely be impressing at the moment, fastest in both sessions of testing after finishing the points in both races of his first race weekend.

Agreed. To come back to single seaters after so much time away and be right on the pace is impressive stuff! If he completes a full year in GP3 and takes the title in 2014, surely a 2015 F1 drive should be on the cards?
