Christ, an RTX2060 for £400!
I mean it's the only thing i see available which will be up to par with the 980ti I had.

I didn't realise prices had gone quite that mad... At least your faulty 980ti also has over inflated value now so you could sell that on an internet auction site to claw back a few pennies!
how much could i sell a faulty 980ti lol. the pcb components burnt i think.
Ebay lets you search for 'sold listings' -- when looking up "Parts only/faulty 980ti" it seems they go for between £40-80 depending on the model and condition.
Better than a slap in the face tbh.
I'm assuming this isn't against Forum T&C since he's talking about selling a faulty item.
As for what GPU you should aim for, keep an eye on OCUK's new forum section for "Member Deals" if you have access to it. With a little luck you should be able to get your hands on something like a 3060ti or 6700XT for close to MSRP.
See if you have access to this forum section, I'm not sure what the requirements are:

If you do look on the right hand side for a tab called "Watch Forum" -- select that and then choose which notification methods you would prefer.
I have no permissions, i wonder how you get invited lol.
