Gran Turismo 7

Thanks for the recommendations - the G29 had been on my radar and picked one up this afternoon.

It's awesome! Anyone sitting on the fence of making the switch from a controller to a wheel just do it!
It has made a huge difference to the game, few races to get used it and I'm doing so much better.

I'm using it attached to an ironing board set at it's lowest level, working well as a stop gap, I need to find a decent stand that I can use when sat on the sofa. Good toy!

I used a wheel stand Pro originally not too bad.

Then I got a playseat challenge which is a step.up but you need some space to use it and keep it..

Man, like many I struggled for gold on some A and B licence challenges, but that's not the worst of it ... try the second mission challenge (the one right of magic mountain). I struggled on a good few, and still am ways off the last one despite having tried for a good couple of hours (ecodrive or something).
So I decided to go back to racing the menu .... and next race series I need a pick-up truck. for the first time since the beginning, I have had to buy a vehicle, and it has to be a pickup  :(
Not only that, one of the tracks I have to race at is willow springs. I hate that track !

Anyone notice a fan area / campsite on the Nurburgring playing music on the side. Thought it was a nice little detail.

Played this game way too much over the weekend!

The supras and Skylines are terrible. Most cars still sound like typical generic GT cars, I thought the hairdryer engines were meant to be no more in this version. And that stupid GT tire squeel again

If anyone stuck getting golds, turn off countersteering, most of my licenses I've beat gold time by almost half a second on average i reckon, it makes a huge difference, and that's on a controller. Over 2k worth of Heusinkveld pedals with Fanatec wheelbases and rims on my PC for my sims and I cant use on PS.... Its a killer.

Get a Drivehub, worked fine when I had the CSL DD for GTS on the PS5 (now have GT DD). I'm sure huskies are supported with it and you can mix and match controllers.

Anyone got any tips for the final Super License track. I've given up going for gold ages ago so don't need super fast times, just to get it done. Doing my head in now.

I'm 23 seconds off the bronze time and that is a improvement of over a minute Lol, of my other completed time and it must have taken 30 attempts to better it.

I just can't get to grips with where to make up the time as everything I try I end up going on the wet parts and then its game over.

I'm using a wheel and have tried different settings, I generally have most things off.

Well added a heap of people to my friend's list, thank's all, got all the licence's done, some mission's, and a heap of racing.
Will have to go back and strive for gold's, one of my grandchildren, he is ten, just zipped through everything using a controller so still have to sort the wheel out, got to say it's a cracking game.

Are you using a controller or a wheel? Are you looking for general suggestions or struggling with something specific?

I’ve got everything off except ABS but then I’m using a wheel so a bit easier than using a controller.

I’m using a controller, im currently working my through the licenses, trying to get gold on them all. From National A I cannot get gold on A-9, the demo makes it look so simple yet when I try it I cannot get gold for the life of me, I don’t know if the demos have different settings/setups for example. I’ve disabled TC, wasn’t sure if I should be altering other things, steering sensitivity etc

Need some times to compete with and compare with so if anybody would like to add me to there friends list my PSN name is HILLY7979.

Thanks.

This one is tough, I'm .004 off the gold time when I had to get back to real life yesterday. There is an assist called countersteering which people suggest turning off, I had dialled it back from strong to weak (which made a significant difference) but not yet off so will try that the next time I give it another go.

I finally did it, now I'm stuck on 10 on International B, I can't even get silver on that one!

I'm struggling too but I just put it down to being the first time I've played GT in almost 20 years :p

Apparently taking off counter steer assistance may help in some cases? I'm going to give it a try anyway

I've done B and A so far, no major issues getting gold on controller (PS4 Pro). The two that took more than a few goes were A-9 (about 4 attempts - I found a fast route where you don't hit the apex) and A-4 with the yellow EK9 Civic in Tokyo where it took maybe 15-20 attempts to get gold as I couldn't get the first turn-in right and then didn't realise you could take the rest flat. Once I figured that out, I just needed a clean run on the first corner and it was fine, actually beat gold by some way I think.

I noticed, like in previous GT games (I'm currently also playing through the GT3 licences again), you need to be smooth and progressive on inputs when using a controller. If you start sliding, you have to be more gentle as it scrubs off a lot of speed and it's hard to always tell, especially with traction control. Other games aren't necessarily like that when you try to max out steering angle or hammer the throttle to go fast.

I've also turned off all the driving assists (on first boot!) as I don't like them, with the exception of the per-car TCS and SC settings of course, which I tweak (and often also disable or turn down depending on how the car reacts). No idea why anyone drives with the counter-steering turned on at all unless you're a total rookie and despite choosing highest difficulty I still had to disable those horrible corner markers. I'm mostly driving with the bonnet/roof cam, which can be a little high sometimes but is generally a good balance. Interior view is nice but you lose a bit of visibility (not good for going fast) and the bumper cam is OK, but probably a bit low.

Just tested counter steering assist off and it feels much better, it feels like I can control the car much better on corners now, which is odd as an assist feature should be making things easier not harder!
