I'll check now what it is definitly, and get back.

Ok, it's Mr Delvis without the dot :p Well, that's what the name says so hey.

Everything internet wise works...but nooooooooooo

Completed the main storyline and sidemissions a while ago.
At about 74% so still need to do the unique jumps, pigeon shooting and hidden packages.

Played a bit of multiplayer but wasnt ideal on my laptop, going to wait until i get the pc in my sig built (tommorrow). Hopefully i can play at a higher res and detail level.

I had this problem, I was able to resolve it by lowering Textures to medium (I notice you have them set to high). I think the problem is that because I have a 1GB video card, that means that 1gig of my RAM can be swallowed just for textures, even before anything else is taken into consideration. Vista x64 generally wants at least a gig for itself plus background tasks, and then GTA4 will grab the remaining 2gig.

IMO GTA4 is the most demanding game on the market, for optimum performance you need a quadcore CPU and 6GB RAM (unless maybe you have a GPU with low VRAM, then 4GB might be enough).

Cheers for that, I'll give it a whirl tomorrow and report back, but it looks so pretty on high :( :p

Just completed story, and then it bluescreened on me :( so i did it again and saved it ;)

Now, how can i do taxi missions once i get in a taxi or is it not possible in gta 4?

been playing this game for a few days and tbh not that impressed with the running of it! it seems to be a performance pig. ran the benchie and this is the results:-
average fps - 40.68
cpu - 94%
mem - 83%
vid mem - 95%
textures - High
rendering - High
view dist - 32
detail dist - 70
res - 1680x1050

how do these look?

even after installing! my system in general seems to have slowed up! browsing net, opening files! is this down to the game?

Nope, why would a game install slow down your system?

Something else is causing it. Check taskmanager to see what is eating CPU cycles.

None of those slow the system down.

RGSC runs silently in the BG using 66MB of RAM and 0% CPU time, you can close it any time and just launch it when playing the game, in fact it autolaunches anyway when you start the game.

GFWL runs only when the game is running unless you've manually installed the standalone GFWL client which is pants anyway so nobody installs it.

Securom isn't an issue and doesn't use any resources that affect system performance...

Not heard that being related to a GTA4 install before. Must be either something else or issue with SP3 or C++ redistribution that is installed along side GTA4?
