*** Grand Theft Auto IV - The Official PS3 Multiplayer Arranging Thread ***

Well playing online might be fun if I could sign in to PSN and have GTA4 still load. If I do it just sits there trying to load the mission. Truly 10/10 this game.

I don't understand how the game reviewers could not have come across some of these issues when playing through the game for themselves. Makes you wonder sometimes. In future, I shall be taking whatever they say with a pinch of salt and wait a week to see how things pan out. Anyway, thread back on track! :p
 
After a few days playing multiplayer I have to say, it's really rather naff :/

Thankfully the single player is immense

Just feels like they rushed the mp at the last minute for the sake of having it

Probably because the MP had a tiny number of people on it at the time and so of course they wouldn't have an connection problems.
 
so what happens in mp? 16 players? free - roaming around the city? taking on the cops? chasing/shooting each other?

and also does the player have to host or does sony have servers for this? I thought initially that Sony had servers for all their online games (warhawk etc :D ) but i guess not?
 
although i like the multiplayer on this i must admit i prefer just doing the single player mode , i will proberly try multiplayer more when ive completed single player

Its not a Sony game so it has no dedicated servers, as for the multiplayer modes, there are 15 different types of games, a couple of which are death match. There is a list of all the MP games in this thread i think. The free one is just that, you can do what you want, treat it as normal deathmatch game or just lark about. Stealing a fire engine and have some one water cannon people of the top of the fire engine is fun, or getting someone to phone the police while others set up ambushs etc. Just crusing about bout with your mates in the car is quite fun.

Sorry I've not replied to any invites tonight, have a bad head so didn't feel like playing MP as I'd have been crap(er)! Keep them coming though, can never have enough invites! :D
