*** Grand Theft Auto IV - The Official Thread ***

I am loving this game so much now. Just unlocked the third island. I am still getting annoyed with people constantly asking me to go do things with them, but nevermind.

LOVING IT :)

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but a person on the EU Playstation forums claims to have spoken to Take2 Support, who said the 'disconnect from PSN' fix for loading and freezing problems. But they also said that the frame-rate issues are only affecting people with PS2 smoothing turned on.

I had aweful slow-down at some points, especially at high speed but I've just tried it with PS2 smoothing disabled and it does make an improvement on the frame rate, I only noticed the improvement when at high speed though.

Where is this comparison from? it makes the PS3 version look extremely poor.

Here's is shot of PS3 version I took with my digicam:

You would expect a photo to look extremely poor compared to a (suppose) straight capture from source, that comparison shot looks almost as if they flattened the sharpness on the TV...

what screen and resolution is that? that looks like you have sharpening on your tv enabled because the hud is nowhere near that sharp without it

Does anyone else notice a distinct framerate drop on the 360 version when theres a lot happening on screen? I drove up to that giant globe thing near the park in the rain and things really slowed down. Just want to make sure its not the 360s drive playing up.

I don't know if this is true, and it may have been mentioned already in the thread.

But from what I've read around the net, The blurring on the PS3 version is caused by the game being 640p and upscaled to 720p.

And so the "extra aa" turned out to be a side effect of an upscale.lol. (I know everyone knows its 640p, I'm talking about the upscaling causing the blur)

I'm loving the game on the 360. And I played it first on the PS3 a few days ago and loved that... never had the PSN issue though which is wierd.

Anyways, to be honest, I couldn't care less at all these technical graphic "problems" obviously some of you do though. I just play it, and love it. It's about game play in the end right, and from what I see, That's top notch, and it's not like the graphics are hideous. I still use the Taxi to get around and stick it on Cinematic mode. It's lovely. And the train looks real!!

However The PSN problem is unforgivable

How bad are the framerate issues in this game compared to say, Saints Row? I enjoyed Saints Row but it felt like it was running at 20fps for nearly the entire game, really annoying.
