Okay, this is the new Official thread for Grand Theft Auto IV. The last one was closed because of idiots clearly breaking the forum rules, of which they knew they were.

There shall be:

  • ZERO talk of in-game game play until Monday 28th April. This is one day before official release.
  • ZERO Spoilers. I don't want to know anything about the story. Talking about game play is fine (after 28th) but you do not need to talk about the story or ruin anything.
  • ZERO console fanboyism. None. Nada. Nowt. It's a game on both formats, I don't want anything negative to any other console.
  • I don't care about your order status', we don't need to see them. No thank you.
  • Finally ZERO competitors. No names and especially NO HINTING.

Okay, that's that out of the way. The last thread was killed by bickering, competitors and talk of playing. I don't care if anyone is pirating, as long as they're not talking about it WE DON'T CARE.

Thank you,
Please be more careful this time.

You can't post that!

Of course he can. Don't be ridiculous.
It's quite clear what you can talk about.

Talk of playing the game, not allowed. Talk of spoilers to the story, not allowed.

Talk of features in the game and what parts of the game you're looking forward to or things that are reported to be in it are allowed.

I don't have any 'power' for those wondering.

What I have done is listed rules for those clearly incapable of following them in the last thread resulting in the position we were in.

What I do have is the ear of the Dons by being placed in this position by users of the forum. All I've done is list the forums rules and incorporated them to fit around Grand Theft Auto IV.

Just in case anyone was accusing me of 'tripping'.

I'm just confused about the rules set out at the beginning:

"Talking about game play is fine (after 28th)"

Surely saying "I can't wait to drive a helicopter" is gameplay?

I just want to make sure so I don't post anything I can't.

Saying 'I can't wait to drive a helicopter' is fine.
Saying 'I don't like the way the helicopter handles' isn't fine, nor is saying 'The mission where you have to kill 'x' with the RC helicopter is too short'.

I'm just looking forward to seeing the level of detail in the environment, the screenshots posted before were quite surprising tbh.

I was blown away playing Skate yesterday at how nice some buildings are, having the same details on GTA4 would be very impressive. This could be truly excellent, especially in Multiplayer.

Does anyone know whether there are hidden 'parcels' to pick up? I've not read much about the game so I'm not sure, but I love doing stuff like this in games so I'm really hoping they've done it again!

Can we start seperate threads with people who are getting it for PS3 and 360... and then respective parties can all meet up online for mass OcUK GTA4 mayhem on release day?

How does that sound?

I'd be amazed if there weren't online threads created on launch, I don't think anyone really expects this thread to be used online, though there wouldn't really be an issue of that was the case.

Most people will be playing it online anyway, so seeing your friends online and inviting them in shouldn't be a problem, certainly not on Xbox360 anyway and if PS3 has online features that I expect, you should be able to do it on there too.

ahhh man, could rockstar be that awesome, it would be cool if you could use it, funny for free raoming with your mates :D, theres got to be quite allot of hidden little things you can do in this game, more than the old GTA's I'm guessing.

They had dirt tracks in other ones, so it wouldn't be unexpected if you could go on them!

So leaked screenshots but not leaked gameplay videos? Or is the screenshot not a leaked one?

Screenshots (as long as it's not a ridiculous spoiler) are allowed. Links to videos should be okay too (again, as long as it's not a ridiculous spoiler to the story).
As long as people aren't claiming to have them them, themselves then there shouldn't be any problems?

Please, decide on some rules and stick to them. That last sentence is as grey an area you could possibly create. It'll be all someone needs to say "My mate has the game..." "my mate said x happens..."

Part of the reason the last thread got closed was because people were linking to videos of pirated copies...yet now you're saying it's ok?

I've already commented above in regards to the confusion.
Links to videos that are official or legally released by Rockstar/Take-Two are allowed until the release of the game (which I mentioned at the top).

Blame my crappy sentence construction.

So what about I if buy a genuine copy of the game early from a retailer ( I would never get a pirate copy of such a highly anticipated game tbh ) - Will I be able to post pics of said game in my hand? <----with bread of course ;)

That's always been a solid rule. Whilst it may appear unfair to those who do buy it legitimately, the past goes to show that pirates outnumber legitimate purchasers when it comes to early releases. Unfortunately it's a case of guilty til proven innocent.

I mentioned earlier a post with bread, preferably showing the games instruction manual will be fine.

What happens then if people get the game legit tonight and want to post vids? If the street date is broken all shops are allowed to sell it.

If there is an OFFICIAL break of street release then I'd assume its fine. The people who run this street releases are those widely accepted as the 2 major highstreet retailers of games. When they say go, then the street date is fine.
