The place I work for has told us that we will be honouring the release date until 2 major games retailers break the official 29th date.

Which kinda sucks as I have mine sitting in my locker at work waiting for the green light to buy it :(
 
I don't know if some of the big retailers will even be able to sell the game. When I tried to purchase CoH on the day, they couldn't sell it to me because it wasn't on their system. So if the person doing the system stuff isn't up to date, its not going through the till :(
 
To be honest I think you can generally forget about smaller retail places selling this early (over the counter opposed to under the counter that is). Reason is, I know that major pressure is being applied throughout the management hierarchy to not release this particular title before release.

It's different for large supermarkets, the management structure is so wide, that in my old store where I used to work, there wouldn't even be a direct manager for the Audio/Games department. Just the non food managers who would pop in to keep an eye on things.

I would always use to get titles before release when I worked on non food at a large supermarket. There just simply wasn't any hardline enforcement of release days for games. Harry potter was a different kettle of fish due to the mass demand and media exposure. We had three pallets of the last book sitting in a warehouse under guard for three days before release. However, no one gives a stuff about computer games.

Furthermore, a retail giant has nothing to worry about from threats from the distributors. Their selling power is simply too great.

Let me just tell you guys this game is one hell of an experience and I've only just scratched the surface with a lot of stuff. I believe (from the stats screen) That I'm 10% through after about 7 hours...
 
certain store rumoured to possibly be selling - is not (well on test cases ive been told about)

midnight runners are failing everywhere, its a warzone out there

Not as long as I thoguht it would be then to be honest. Does it have all the hidden packages, rampages etc to find, or have I just been out of the GTA games for too long?
 
I was hoping mine would arrive early (like everyone else obviously) but all I've got on my order is 'processing' :(

Ah well at least that should mean I get it on launch day if nothing else.
