Grand Theft Auto V is about to look borderline photorealistic

Just completing this game on a controller for the first time. Given there is so much vehicle use in this game I think a controller is fantastic unless your in a tricky gunfight!

Ok thanks,

What card would I need to upgrade to if I wanted to run all these mods with mins above 60fps at 1080p?

Would the 1070 do it?

I have 1070 and it absolutely runs GTAV 60fps in 1080p, and I suspect the mod will not actually incur much performance hit since it changes lightning by editing its files, not adding any new effects.

It's a tough one, I've modded my game to a level that I love now, to wipe it all and try something different will be a bake, but I'll definitely keep an eye on this new mod.

I have my game exactly how I like it, wont be everyones cuppa tea but its perfect for me, loud and bright haha

Was this someone recording their screen with a phone? It's not just me right? It says 1080p but looks more 480p or 720p.

DS4 with full left trigger pull set to activate gyro, plus L1 mode shift gyro always on for vehicle targeting fixes that.

Yes mate dais earlier in post. Was back when I was having major issues with AMD recording software but I needed it uploaded for a friend to that wanted to see how all the mods looked once I did them all. Wasn't ideal but served a purpose.

That reminds me, I need to write a list of my mods today for a few guys here, will just do the main ones chaps, I've got around 65 installed I think.

Plastic, that's what makes CGI and computer games seem 'off'. Light diffusion is a very hard thing to replicate at a life like scale. And if you do, it's damn near impossible for standard GPU's to render in real time.

TBH a lot is just in finessing the specular "right enough" to make a scene look "real" there seems to be an odd thing in the game industry of either under-using specular light or rigidly trying to use it in a physically realistic manner in a system limited by its inability to fully simulate real diffusion, etc. and ending up with overly bright highlights that make everything look fake.

I think the biggest improvement is the reflections, which really do look almost real (particularly the shot of the car interior at night at 1 minute 11 seconds. Also the 2:35 street scene, helped by the jerky camera. It might look a bit more real at 90 or 120fps too?

The sunny weather shots still look very, shall we say, 'stylised' but the lighting in cloudy / rainy weather in particular does look really rather real. If the sunny weather colours is dialled down a bit I think it would help (not that I know much about anything)

My 390x is looking at me like "don't even think about it, otherwise I'll cook every component inside this case!"
