Great British Bake Off (will likely include spoilers)

I'll put my money on Kimberley to win the final. She's been the most consistent throughout.

It's a decent programme and I've liked Mel and Sue from their Light Lunch days on C4. Can't believe that was 15 years ago!

Starts in 15 minutes.

^well i haven't looked but i think i know who isn't going to win. they just showed a clip of the winners announcement at start of the program and the look on one of the faces looked like they knew they had no chance. i can only presume they ****ed up big time??

Exactly my reaction. Wrong result for me.
She hasn't been as consistent as Kimberley throughout, and for most of it was criticised for being style over substance.
Going back to my earlier point, they aren't given enough time. All three final cakes looked poor, with two of them embarrassing for a bake off final. Also seemed to be less bread this year (but I may be wrong there).

With this being filmed a few months ago, and over a hundred people at the final party, how wasn't the result widely known before the show aired?

I though Kimberley would win it, but her soggy bottom pie put paid to her chances.
Frances won because she actually learnt her lessons and at the end her food tasted better.
Ruby was a self-pitying annoyance for the entire series.

No idea how the winner doesn't come out earlier - does this stuff attract any action at the bookies? I read Raymond Blanc's comments - hehe, he's funny :D

Was pleased she won it. Definitely my favourite right from the start - despite her criticism of style over substance (where substance is something we can't comment and it's down to the judges), I believe this is a fair win as she's been judged to have improved whilst still keeping her style...

I mean 6 hours for a wedding cake and she pulled something simple yet effective whilst Kimberley went a little too simple outside (though the checkered cake is a stroke of genius, a wedding cake is as much about the outside if not more than what's on the inside). Rosie's idea is good but think she's over stretched for time and her rough detail work didn't make it any better.

By the way. the local bookies apparently stopped taking bets on Frances yesterday afternoon, so they must have known something...

I love GBBO!!!! But this year, I was slightly dissapointed :( I don't think any of the 3 or really anyone that entered were worthy winners. I mean they did roll out a few great ideas etc. Last nights final, them cakes were not finalist cakes!!!! I thought tbh they looked appalling :( maybe tasted great but to be in the final of TGBBO I was expecting much better!

Hollywood P's me off tho! Surprised he never voted for Ruby! He seemed to be up her **** the rest of the time :\

I'm not convinced on the wedding cake as a final show stopper, they appear to be a test of style and decorating rather than baking. All three looked like they where using pretty normal sponge cakes with some additional flavours and fillings. That in itself is not what I would call show stopping, granted they had to make a lot of fillings from scratch but to me the baking part should be the cake.

I think that Kimberly should have won as she has been so strong throughout the series, Ruby excels in breads but not in cake so shouldn't have got through as she is not a well rounded baker. That said I can see that Frances has improved throughout the series but surely the award should go to best baker no most improved

IIRC it was the same last year though, wasn't it. John won because they thought that he had improved the most (he did also have a good final bake), while arguably John and Brendan were more consistant.
