Am I right in thinking that it is not possible to send resources to another village unless I have a marketplace? I'm about to max out on Iron, and don't want to waste any or to build a warehouse...

Yes, unfortunately you need to have a marketplace. I’m not sure why you don’t want to build a warehouse but you might have to now.

To my knowledge - Yes.

There is something in Travian Plus called NPC Merchant ( costs 3 Gold )

which allows you to swap your resources with yourself.

i.e change 200 iron into 50 of each wood/clay/iron/wheat etc.

Wait for confirmation though, as i haven't tried it.

I'm saving up for my hero's mansion!!!! I just have far more iron than anything else, but don't want to spend the wood and clay on the warehouse!

Oh, sorry forget about mentioning this as an alternative. Yes, you just need to trade a minimum of 50 resources (as in shift at least 50 of one kind to 50 spread over the other kinds) for it to be accepted, it’s immediate and works well. I’ve used it quite a lot actually.
