Greenlizard0 Boxing Day Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26 - 27th December 2011]

Anyone a palace fan here?? Or anyone think their club might buy Zaha or Clyne??

Just home from the game (went out with a few mates afterwards) and I cant believe the rubbish in the champ sometimes... Palace really played like a disorganised bunch of kids! Couldn't believe this was the same team that put united out the league cup too!

Zaha being worth 10m is beyond stupid (much more over the top than Chamberlain at 12-15m) just pace, 3 step overs then falls over and spits at the nearest player. Nasty nasty little kid that I hope gets found out as a fraud of a prospect.

Clyne looked like a good punt for 1-2m but defensively his positioning was appalling made up by being quick to recover.

Awesome smiles though for 2-0, top of the champ and dominating another game :)

Oh and Moyes new best manager for the "yeah never was a penalty" not very often you get the benefiting manager saying things like that

6 assists and a goal in his last 4 games from Valencia. Glad to have good Tony V back

Also saw this stat on twitter (so not sure if it's correct or not)

Dimitar Berbatov now has just 1 less league goal than Luis Suarez in 10-11, despite playing just 255 minutes to the Uruguayan's 1,454. #MUFC

:D

Anyone a palace fan here??

Not a Palace fan, but we've currently got one of your lot on loan at the moment: Harlee Dean

This kid is - bar today's performance - absolutely excellent. I udnerstand you picked him up from D&R without playing a game for them (could be a reason why they got relegated). Pacey, good in the air and a proper ball-playing centre back.

I had a chat with out Director of Football last week, and he reckons if you lot get promoted, as you're likely to, there's a pretty good chance of us signing him on a permanent basis! :D Although I understand there's still a pretty bad feeling between our two clubs :(

It's weird how hot and cold Valencia is, a few months ago he was just appalling in every way, his crossing was terrible, he wasn't taking players on...now he just seems to be making the effort again, very odd.

His replacement... Demba Ba.......FREE.....14 goals :D

After Ba slow start to the season (Ramadan) he shown he is pure quality. He enjoys his football and just puts in a lot of effort. He nearly always has a smile on his face.

If we had better wingers he goal count would be massive as he always makes it into the box and finds space. Our final ball is lacking.

Not bad for a lad who has a dodgy knee  I loved him from his very first interview when the press asked him about his knee in a press conferance. he said "did you see me play? Does it look like my knee is a problem?"

He is a modern profession off the pitch and an all round nice guy. Well chuffed we signed him.

21 goals from 25 prem league starts in total hahah we found our new number 9 :)

His so called knee problem is good for Newcastle as no club would chance a big transfer fee on him!!! :)

I was glad to see Ben Arfa score yesterday. Even if he gets back to half the player he can be, he still be better than most in this league. Just something about him. When he gets the ball everyone feels that something will happen.

Didnt Valencia miss most of the summer with an international injury? Wouldnt that explain why his confidence and crossing wasnt anywhere as great at the beginning of the season as it has been recently ?

Im just praying Utd get at least one of the 3 possible centre half's fit for Blackburn, so they have time under their belt before going to Newcastle

Virtually no central defence and no centre midfield of any quality without putting Rooney there again

I have to say I thought Salmmon's arms were un-necessarily high on Carrick, for not really having to jump, I have no problem with his arms being out from his sides, but up at shoulder height was excessive imo

Wasn't Suarez a Hodgson signing? Can't remember the timeline exactly but I thought Hodgson bought Mereiles and Suarez?

Selling Mereiles was also a retarded move considering how chronically average Adam is.

No, he wasn't.
Selling Meireles was very retarded though.

I just hope Newcastle don't start cashing in on players again.

We need to add to the likes of Ba, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Cabaye etc...

From a financial point of view though we are doing very well

Arsenal - Szczesny, Djourou, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Song, Arteta, Rosicky, Benayoun, Gervinho, Van Persie

Subs - Almunia, Miquel, Coquelin, Ramsey, Arshavin, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chamakh.

Glad Ramsey is being given a break, he looked knackered the last couple of games, hopefully Gervihno will be rubbish and get subbed for Chamberlain. Seeing Djourou on the team sheet is never a confidence boost lol, but hopefully they'll be too pre-occupied defending to have any meaningful attacks. RVP needs to score 3 by half time then spend the 2nd putting his feet up.

Walcott must be injured or something, or maybe his paddy at getting subbed the other day is to blame for his name not being anywhere.

Set to make a profit this this April right? without taking transfer into account

Not totally sure tbh. I did hear a few month back though that we were really on track financially, especially for this uefa thing too.

I guess the board have done well at balancing the books. They aren't the most popular people but the decisions that have been made recently are paying off, literally.

Good news is I think Smith is on the last 6 months or so of his contract that should clear around 60k off our wage bill. Enough for 2 players in our new system we seem to be sticking to. Think they said if he goes it would open space in our squad. Think they even tried to give him away for free but no one was interested
