Greenlizard0 Boxing Day Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26 - 27th December 2011]

Was there any song Man City fans were singing last week? Something copied from the United fans but changed slightly... something along the lines of 'We do what we want'... for some reason not being sung today... ;):p

Another below par performance but I don't think there's another side in the country that's had as much bad luck as we have. If it's not questionable decisions then it's the woodwork or inspired keeping. I honestly can't think of a keeper that's come to Anfield and not had a great game this season. That said, we've got to do far better in the final third

That's the be all and end all I'm afraid, you cant blame bad luck for 6 draws from 9 home games, you've got to admit a lack of quality. I remember when United had a season where all we seemed to do is hit bar/post and it culminated in the FA Cup final against Arsenal when we battered them from start to finish but lost on penalties, in hindsight though the team just wasn't good enough and at the end of the day inspired goal keeping can easily be reversed into poor finishing (see the Man Utd/Newcastle game)

Still great day for United, we score another 5 with a totally make shift side on the same day City, Chelsea and Liverpool all draw :D

EDIT:

Every team's got their oddball supporters, you've got Nickg we've got BaZ.

Only just saw this :D :p

I know, I said as much.

We've had a lot of bad luck but despite all that, we should be doing better than we are.

What about kenny? So far some off his line ups and subs have been bad. But i agree that up front we are crap. Carrol needs to go but has he really had a chance to prove himself? A decent run of games? Today he nearly got the winner, a super save i have to say. I hope seve g can bring in the extra goals but i think he is past it. Ch5 here we come again:(

That was an absolutely dire match, but at least we didn't lose. When will Tony Pulis learn that to win games we need to score goals, and to score goals we need to attack?

Carroll was a lot better today, his link up play had improved (except for the first 15 mins when he was clearly nervous), and although he should have scored with his attempt from near range, he must be rusty and at least he's getting into good positions now.

He's also only 21 years old and had a fairly disruptive start at a new club, playing a different way than he was used to.

We need to sign another striker so that we're not reliant on him. We don't need to replace him, certainly not anytime soon anyway.

Completely agree, and I'm sure work will be done in Jan to address some of the issues upfront because two strikers is not enough for any aspiring team.

In another topic:
So .. villa v Stoke? Like sticking pins in your eyes or worse? lol
For all the "PL vs La Liga" debate that ends up going on here, you have to admit La Liga is infinitely more entertaining when 'third' string teams are involved.

Andy Carroll.....................................................................................................................£35m............................................................/sniggers

His replacement... Demba Ba.......FREE.....14 goals :D

Bad day at the office today, had a few chances but just couldn't get it in the net. Some excellent defending from Brom so all credit to them. Shame we couldn't finish 2011 with a win.
