Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 18th May 2023]

I think most people thought similar though, a title run-in is very difficult especially against City. There was no evidence Arsenal would be able to match City in the final months.

In recent weeks maybe but months ago when it was debated on the overlap etc, he was one of the only ones sticking with City to win it.

Arsenal absolutely threw it away.

They did indeed, it'll be interesting to see if they can build on this next season - no guarantees. Could end up going backwards.

I think the result earlier hammered home the reality that there’s no chance City will drop any points with their remaining games, and the performance reflected that. Never got going and even if they had of done, the possibility went a while ago. There’s no pressure for 2nd place either, so despite the bigger picture being a massive improvement over last season, right now it’s all a bit of a damp squib.

Good luck next year to whoever else wants to try and get a mid 90’s+ points total as until Pep goes, that seems to be what you need to win the league now.

You were 12 points in front, not sure you can blame "oil money" this season
We may have been in front, but through their dodgy dealings, city are the only ones who have the squad to keep it fresh until the end. I mean, today they had KDB, Grealish and Silva on the bench ffs. What team has a squad with players if that calibre ready to constantly rotate.

Are Arsenal a top club? Am sure all there bothered about is finishing above Orient. George Graham new what he doing when he left.
Not sure what your on about?

Arsenal at the start of this season had no business being in the top 4, nevermind competing with the best club in the world..

I see some of arsenal haters are back here in full force to throw stones at the club for failing to win the title.

Stay classy

Anyways well done to city

We did at the time. Got knocked out though by sporting.

City have 24 world class players. They are the only club in the world that could play with the same mentality and level on multiple competitions

Got knocked out by Sporting and then went a poor run. So clearly the midweek games didn't have a detrimental effect for 75% of the season. Not sure how you can argue it's "oil money" when you didnt have european football and were so many points in front.

I get why people are going to say Arsenal bottled it given the last few weeks but it was nothing to do with bottle, they just were never as good as their early season form suggested.

I don't mean it as a dig nor am I suggesting they were lucky but everything that could go Arsenal's way in the first 3/4's of the season went their way. Every player performed to their absolute peak and whenever they dipped a little bit, they just found a way to scrape a win. It wasn't sustainable though and a number of players have dropped back to their normal level.
