Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [13th - 19th January 2023]

Brentford vs Bournemouth = Championship level so far. Can't see Bournemouth surviving on this showing. West Ham, Everton and them to go down if I could have my pick:)

I wonder if the media will attack the scouse mackems with the same ferocity for their embarrassing response to the loss vs Soton, as they did with us because we deservedly abused Steve via social media.

There shouldn't be any abuse ... I think that's where we are all hoping to get to. Like rugby where you take it on the chin, congratulate the winner, and move on.
I think this season will get particularly nasty if we carry on like this. As footy lovers we should stop getting wrapped up in the football media provocation. It's unhealthy and self-serving.

They really didn't like the cabbage memes did they?

Haha, Seen that clip of Utd players celebrating, with Casemiro putting those 2 kids in a headlock. I think they were happy with that. :D Thats some passion from the team I have not seen in years.

Anyway, here's hoping for Spurs and Fulham wins today.

Just saw some of the decisions that went Man U's way, pretty unbelievable... although it is quite amusing seeing the handful of man city supporters out there crying after some of the decisions they've got the past few seasons to win the league by a point..

The offside is one of the worst I've seen in a long time. How they've given that is beyond me.

Yup I have no idea either, I needed United to win for my bet and I still don’t think it should have counted!

In other news, I can’t stop watching the Welbeck goal. Such a shame his career was ruined by injuries.

Literally the only one that was contentious was the offside. Outside of that City got the usual glut of soft free kicks from Mahrez going down when a defender got near him. Somehow managed to get only 1 minute of stoppage time in the first half despite there being at least 5 or 6 minutes of injury stoppages in the half.

Yeah the stoppage time was so suspicious. Yet when City were chasing an equaliser suddenly there was 5 mins in the second half.

I reckon the officials were falling asleep at the end of the first half, certainly wasn’t a classic at that point

Really concerned by Klopp's post match interview, if he genuinely didn't see that result coming with the way we've been playing, we're in far bigger trouble than I first thought. Both he and the coaches need a long hard look at themselves because the team's getting done over game after game by the same simple ball and a bit of pace.

he's hardly going to come out and throw the players under the bus.. if there aren't going to be any midfield incomings then he really needs to look at the coaching and make changes there (bye bye Ljinders) or failing that just play some of the youngsters as the system we've used since he's been here requires energy and the ability to get around the pitch, the senior members of the squad he's relying on to dig us out of the hole just do not have either. He needs to get over whatever loyalty he feels he owes them. Even sorting the midfield out there are glaringly obvious issues that need addressing - 2 midfielders, a cb and a lb are the minimum that we need.
