Arsenal were an embarrassment tonight, absolutely shocking. No effort, no energy, no excuses, just absolute rubbish. That team is going nowhere.

Agree with this but the bare minimum you have to show heart. I guess its why sometimes people turn a blind eye when someone gets sent off for volleying someone. They at least care. I didnt watch it all but going off sofascore Newcastle battered Arsenal tonight with Xhaka the only player to be in the green for performance. Tavarez isnt good enough for Arsenal but i think you all know that anyway.
 
I know there are some that said no Europe was Arsenal's best chance of making the top 4 but ultimately no Europe and the money it brings has cost Arsenal the chance of top 4. Had they afforded to hold even a slightly bigger squad in this 2nd half of this season then they'd have probably had 4th in the bag by now but instead they're going to be praying for a miracle on the final day.

Missing out this year will be a massive blow for Arsenal and to miss out to Spurs makes it doubly worse and not just because of the rivalry between the two. The extra money for Spurs and the increased likelihood that Conte stays means Arsenal will next season be competing against 5 sides with more money than them (ranging from ~£80m to ~£200m more) and 4 of those sides with significantly better managers. It could be a few more years before Arsenal get another realistic chance of making the CL now but then again, Utd could carry on as they are, Conte could go to PSG and Chelsea out of business.
 
Newcastle were outstanding tonight in every facet, best overall performance of the season although I feel we shoudl havewon by a greater margin. What an amazing transformation at that club. I've said it before but Bruno has absolutely everything to his game to be a mega star, the kid has got it all.

Well played Newcastle, they didn't give Arsenal a sniff last night. Arsenal will struggle the next few seasons if they think 5th was respectable, who are they expected to attract with no CL and other teams around them pushing forward? Conte has had 6 months and 1 Jan transfer window with slim pickings. Those players made a huge difference. Arsenal will have now have Thursday nights to contend with, it makes a massive difference to squad availability.
 
Conte will get some money this summer with the Champions League qualification, ETH has already started 6 weeks early so I cannot see Man Utd being this bad again. Liverpool and Man City will be the same and if Chelsea can get the ownership sorted they can get rid of that cloud over their heads and get on with it. You also have Newcastle as well who I can already see will be challenging for top 6 next season.

What I see with Arsenal is what I saw when we lost the Europa League final. It is only downhill from now. Problem is the board have just given Arteta a 3 year contract extension which is madness. He will end up getting sacked in December and then that will be another season gone falling further in the abyss.

I know you love a bit of blind optimism but you're taking the mick now :D He started early so Utd can't be as bad? :D I better tell Klopp not to have a holiday this summer, we might be even better next season!
