Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th - 20th December 2021]

Garth Crooks is such a bitter little ****

He is the most consistent Arsenal player at the club and has been for the last season and a half - and the reason Arsenal find themselves flying high. I can't understand how such an ordinary team keeps getting these results. It's unbearable

Give the "glasses" chat a swerve, you do it a lot and its boring now.

I dont care if his intention is get the ball or not...its irrelevant. It doesnt change the "tackle" nor does it change the outcome. It was a ridiculous and dangerous challenge and Robertsons lucky he managed to evade lost of the impact.

You mentioned Kane was reckless, I was just asking if you took Liverpool out of the equation and your general dislike of spurs do you really think he was being dangerous and went to do him.

Just trying to demonstrate to you how extreme, aggressive and irrational some of your comments are, which for me is a shame as some of your posts on here make a lot of sense to me.

Take Liverpool and my dislike of Kane and it's still a reckless challenge that was deserving of a red card, I said Saturday night the Xhaka could've had a red for his challenge (which had a lot less force than Kane's as Kane was off the floor) but the fact Xhaka didn't even get a yellow was in-excusable from the officials, football is dropping rapidly as one of my pastimes as it doesn't matter who's playing the level of officiating is rock bottom and it's spoiling the game, I used to make a point of watching ever game that I could that was on Sky but now when my sports contract is up on the 29th I'm cancelling it so I won't even have the option of watching any matches (unless I go to the local).

I've actually watched more women's matches this season than Premier League games which I've surprised myself with

I dont have a dislike of Spurs...im not being extreme when i describe that challenge as reckless. I dont think hes gone to "do him" at all but like i said, thats irrelevant. Its a dangerous tackle...im not sure thats even debateable to be honest.

Im not sure Omnom dislikes Spurs especially. He does love a red card however. In this case though he is 100% correct. Kanes was a nasty one. Red every single day of the week. I would say "and twice on sundays" but thats clearly not true.

Also, flying into a tackle like Kane did is straight up dangerous and unless the player jumps out of the way like Robertson did they are fantastically likely to be leaving the pitch on a stretcher even if their leg isn't snapped in two. Hes flown in with a lot of speed and force. Compared to most red cards for dangerous tackles, that was a bad one.

I don’t disagree about the red at all but he hasn’t gone to do him or gone in recklessly. He went for the ball mistimed it and caught the player end of story.

Doesn’t make it any less of a red card but as shown on this thread consistency isn’t there. Which isn’t a new thing, again as shown in this thread alone so my original point was why the outrage.

Alan shearer made some good, albeit obvious points on match of the day last night.

I don't think Kane's intended or tried to injure Robertson but the nature of his challenge was reckless. I think Neville may have mentioned it on commentary, he'd just scored, the crowd were up and he's just had a rush of blood and lunged into the challenge. It wasn't the worst of red card challenges that we see but it was a pretty straight forward red. When Dermot Gallagher is on Sky Sports struggling to defend the yellow card you know the refs *****ed up.

I'm not sure what specific outrage you're referring to but from my point of view, what makes the Kane situation worse than the general inconsistencies that we see was that we saw it in the same game, with the same VAR. It's bad enough when you're getting two refs making different decisions but you can sometimes excuse that as two people interpreting rules slightly differently. You can then have a situation where an onfield ref makes two different calls but you can sometimes excuse them as they're human and may simply have made a mistake watching the incident live. But when you get a VAR that's sitting there watching multiple replays and making hugely inconsistent decisions in the same game it does leave you scratching your head.

What part of how Kane went in was not reckless? Going in at speed? Check. Studs showing. Check. Foot off the ground. Check.

I don't think anyone has said that hes trying to injure Robertson but that tackle was reckless. If Robertson hadn't jumped he would have been injured. Potentially quite badly. This isn't a tackle that is just bad luck in where Kanes foot landed relative to Robertson. It was a very straight forward red card, reckless tackle.

The only question I have in my mind is whether that was a worse decision or the foul on Jota. Both of them I wouldn't even have a moments hesitation in giving and I am all for players not getting penalties for the smallest contact and reds for unintentional fouls.

Who doesnt love a red card?

I dont dislike Spurs at all :cry:

I'm not sure how anyone can say Kane wasn't reckless in the challenge, he's ended up 2 meters away from Robbo on his stomach after the lunge. Bizarre.

There's a massive difference between being reckless in a tackle and purposely trying to injure someone.
