Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [19th - 22nd August 2022]

Shoutout for Martinez, everyone has been taking the **** out of him but he was very good today. Looks aggressive and good on the ball - as I was expecting.
Think he's a player for certain matches. Oddly this match against small quick players is much more appropriate for him than being up against Ivan Toney

Liverpool need to get some deals across the line to bolster that midfield. If they don't it'll be a trophyless season. Too many ageing and injury prone players. They have been so naive!

The Sky guys were all wearing Sandbanks jackets in the winter, think Jamie Redknapp owns the company and was giving them out free

Probably something similar with the trainers

Who? Bellingham? Not even close to the same type of player and KdB is impossible to replace. There isn't a single midfielder in the world I would take over him right now.
Hence why I said long term replacement, at some point someone will have to takeover from him. Whilst Bellingham isnt exactly like for like, he's a definite option. Theres no doubt City will be in for him.

If theres one thing that all the fans of other clubs can agree on is that they hate United and try and wind us up at every opportunity, which is odd considering how long we have been **** and how little it tends to bother most United fans. We tend to take the **** out of ourselves enough already. Winding up Arsenal fans is much more rewarding at the moment :p .

I wasn't worried about Martinez. It was 2 games. Writing him off after 2 games is silly. At the moment I have no idea how we will look in a few months but if we finish the transfer window strongly and can put a few wins together then we will be fine this season. Nothing spectacular but fine.

As bad as it can be for large spells of that game. To get outworked by this Utd side takes some doing.

We've got to get back to the basics and putting the hard yards in but something has to change down our right hand side too. It was a problem at the start of last season too. It gives us something different in attack but having Elliott (or Henderson) almost playing like a right winger leaves us so exposed in that channel.
Its bad enough playing with one of Henderson or Milner in the middle as neither have the legs these days to cover the necessary ground in the current formation, having both is a recipe for disaster. tbh I'd rather see Carvalho then either of them but I suppose from Klopp's perspective he'd lose a senior figure from the middle of pitch.

edit: By legs I mean burst of pace to cover ground up on the pitch, both have never been quick/dynamic but hendo in particular gives the ball away far far too cheaply these days.
