Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 23rd Aug 2021]

Just two coming together.

We can all agree that we preferring the way the refs are reffing the games this season so far.

Pel moaned about the Spanish league the other day.

This is overall a positive thing for the league in general.

It was the same all game. Motd seemed to think Klopp was complaining about the lack of soft fouls but he was very specific about what he was taking issue with. He said that if you want to stop soft pens etc then fine but it was the aerial fouls, when Matip or VVD were jumping for a header and Barnes was just barging into them that needed to stop because they're going to cause injuries.

The old Harry Kane special move.

Coming together? It wasn’t though was it. He’s jumped into him with two feet and dragged him to the ground. They haven’t bumped into each other have they.
It’s a red card lmao.

I can’t agree about the refereeing no. It’s allowing teams like Burnley to think it’s 2230 on a Saturday night in Eddie Hearns back garden. Burnley were a disgrace yesterday.

Barnes is worse than Kane. Dyche is quick to complain about diving but Ashley Barnes spends 90 minutes barging into defenders and then throwing himself to the ground.

I can't stand Burnley and Barnes and them getting relegated and staying down would be the best thing that could happen to the PL.

Ahhh ok so jumping into a player completely off the ball knee high with both feet and dragging them to the ground for absolutely no reason is ok then? It’s an off the ball incident and is a red card.

He isn’t challenging for anything. I mean if you’re lying on the ground a flick a boot at someone it’s a red but something out of the WWE isn’t? Nonsense.

I mean I don’t expect anything else from the bbc but to not show the wrestling moves (this is one of many) from Burnley yet show Klopp complaining about them is something else. At least highlight and show the viewers what he’s complaining about. I’m surprised Elliott walked off the pitch the amount of times Burnley volleyed him.

I’d pay good money for that lot to be relegated this season.

Mate I'm a Liverpool fan and watched the full game yesterday but you go way over the top. If you were reffing there would be two red cards a match

Who you support is irrelevant tbh if you go in like that with challenging for the ball it’s borderline. Off the ball? Behave.

You seem to be on your own on the entire Internet, that should tell you something. Even RAWK weren't calling for a red and I've barely seen it mentioned in the matchday thread.

You're describing a tackle that could've snapped both his legs and decapitated him when in reality it was a tussle and Matip got dragged to the floor.

The lad jumped into Matip and dragged him to the ground for absolutely no reason whilst not challenging for the ball...

"You saw these challenges with [Ashley] Barnes and [Chris] Wood and Virgil [van Dijk] and Joel [Matip]. I'm not 100% if officials are going in the right direction with these decisions.

'There's no fouls any more? I'm not sure. I like all decisions in favour of the offensive team like offside but we have to stick to protect the players. We can't deny that. Watch wrestling if you like those things.'

As per Klopp himself. He recognised it...so clearly im not alone. Burnley were ridiculous yesterday and not for the first time.

Football fans summed up perfectly this last few posts.

Klopps constant moaning about everything is really getting boring now. Peps almost as bad, I’m surprised he didn’t come out and say Norwich game was tough and they played the game the right way.

People seem to hate Burnley because they don’t roll over and get battered. There’s more than one way to play football. I’m sure I seen a stat that Burnley have now gone the longest period of not getting a red. Not exactly dirty in this era of VAR.

Did you watch the game yesterday? I believe it was 3 minutes in that Burnley absolutely volleyed Elliott.

“welcome to the premier league” though eh. Stone age stuff that needs to get in the bin.

Yesterday you had a Burnley player bearhug a player and throw them to the ground and not even get a yellow.... I'd be bloody complaining if I was Klopp too.

Nobody should like Burnley. Not even Burnley fans.

This "there's more than one way to play" stuff is fine, if they actually play football but they don't. Everything they do is to ruin the game.

A statto on twitter wrote that the ball was in play for fractionally over 45 minutes yesterday. When you consider stoppage time that's less than 50% of the game. In the 45 minutes the ball was in play, they played 73 long balls. One every 38 seconds but when you consider that Liverpool had 60-70% possession, it's more likely every 15 seconds!

They're the biggest bunch of cheats in PL history, both in terms of fouling opposition players and diving. Inside 5 minutes yesterday they were being warned for time-wasting.

Who wants to watch Nick Pope take 3 minutes to take a goal kick, that goal kick to be lumped forwards to Ashley Barnes, who will run into the opposition player and who then throws himself to the ground for 90 minutes, 38 times per season?
