Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22nd - 24th October 2021]

Sancho was always competing with Greenwood for the right side once James left. Ronaldo joining changed nothing in that respect. I could understand if we'd been using Martial more on the left but he's barely played. If anything Sancho has had more opportunities since James went out and Ronaldo came in because Ronaldo plays solely up front where Sancho won't play.

IF Sancho was only ever going to be competition for Greenwood, why buy him? Greenwood looks one hell of a player, as has Sancho in the past for Dortmund to be fair. He's was never needed and then you compound wasting 75 million on him by getting Ronaldo whose an entirely different player to Cavani, zero planning and zero thought has gone into your transfer purchases. Its hilarious as a fan of another team at just how badly your club is run, the whole ethos is of your club is rotten and needs gutting.

Personally I get very similar vibes to mid 90's Liverpool teams, we had some absolutely outstanding individuals but at the core of the squad was a laziness, players thinking they had made it and didn't need to give effort. Except we at least played attractive football.

The squad is completely unbalanced, we don't have creative wide players. Both Rashford and Greenwood want to run at teams with the ball at their feet, but I'm not clear how this works with Ronaldo as a number 9. Fair enough, cutting in as a wide player will occasionally result in the odd goal but nobody is consistently scoring goal of the month contenders like Greenwood's goal vs Leicester where you get a shot off after coming in off the wing.

Fair enough if your full backs get forward but AWB hasn't shown that ability in the seasons he's been with us, and Shaw hasn't been at his best this season compared to last season.

Utd didn't sign Sancho to rotate him in and out of the side and if they did, whoever made that decision needs shooting. Given the shortcomings Utd have at the back and in midfield to spend £70m odd on a player who won't play regularly is bonkers.

Sancho was signed to play. Him, Rashford and Greenwood would have featured more often than not with Cavani and to a lesser extent Martial coming in and out of the side. Ronaldo arrived with no plan and now he's playing every game and everybody else is now fitting in around him.

Your guessing doesn't make it true. There is nothing to suggest that we were going to prefer to start Rashford, Greenwiood and Sancho.

I think Sancho will start more when he's adapted to the league, but right now rotating is best for him. He's still playing every game, it's not like VdB at all.

He made 17 starts last year, less than half their games.

This is called a rotation system.
How many champs league games? How many fa cup? EFL trophy? Did he start in all the big games for Man city? How many games was he injured for?

Foden at man city is a laughable comparison to greenwood/Sancho

dont worry Ronaldo is only on a two year deal. I wonder who has the balls to kick him out though? Or will he just do what he did to Juve and start looking for another club to merc himself out to if thing dont pickup.

Foden played more minutes last season than Sancho did and more minutes than Greenwood did..but yeah 'rotation'

Foden played less in the league than both of them. Saying he played more in competitions that City went further in is....obvious and completely irrelevant. Of course the guy that went to the final played more then the guy who played for Dortmund.

Your guessing doesn't make it true...
True. That part was just my feeling of the situation - I don't think Ole particularly fancies Martial (I don't blame him) and Cavani wasn't/isn't going to play every week. Rashford - Greenwood - Sancho looks and feels like a proper, long term front line and I think that was the thinking behind the Sancho signing.

Regardless of whether that front 3 was the plan, I have no doubt that Sancho wasn't simply signed as a rotation player. You don't spend that much money on a player to come in and out of the side when you've got big issues in defence and midfield.

Foden played about 1650 minutes of league football, greenwood 1800 and Sancho 2100. He was also injured for 3 games. Add those 3 games and the player you claim is used in a rotational system would likely have played more minutes than Greenwood and be close to sancho

Greenwood missed 4 games with injury, Sancho missed 11.

Keep going please.
