Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22nd - 24th October 2021]

Oles got cut a lot more slack than most managers because he's 'United', Bruno Fernandes pretty much single headedly kept in him a job last year. Why they gave him a contract extension god only knows, same as Southgate with England and them extending it if their contract ran out tomorrow what massive clubs would be beating their door down? None is the answer. So why fall over yourself to extend it?! If they want to quit and go manage Watford good luck to them.

He's a nice bloke but he's out of his depth and has been from the start. There's a decent squad of players there for someone to sort out.

The fact the midfield has looked utterly awful for months now and VDB can't even get a game in there shows that Ole just has no consideration to try anything else/something different. I'm not saying he's the answer but give him a few games and see....can't be any worse.

Fred/McTom every game without fail - just AWFUL - they have been for months and months.

Just no plan B from Ole at all.

He needs to go and quickly - keeping him to the end of the season will cause uproar inside Old Trafford....

But literally the only thing they're really badly missing is a holding midfielder, and they should have spent the Sancho money on one. There are far, far worse squads performing far, far better than this United one

I think the plan was to have Sancho, Rashford and Greenwood with Cavani and Martial to swap in. Ronaldo happened because Ronaldo wanted to move not because we were after him.

Sancho has been caught out all because of this. Now we are trying to play a pressing style with an old fashioned striker. Just not going to work.

Conte is the man they need.

I would take him in a heartbeat and I think he would be perfectly happy to take on the job on a temporary basis until the end of the season.

Then actually go after a manager who actually plays the sort of football we want to see at United. Someone who is clearly getting the best from their current squad and who is able to play a modern style of football.

Or, you know, sack Ole and just hire whoever is available at that moment and give them a really long term contract. Either or.

Ole: ‘No, we’re too close, we’ve come too close to give up now.’

Close to what exactly?

Hes been listening to the "top reds" who talk like we are always one player away from being sublime. A month away from everything clicking. Just having a slow start to the season before we explode.

Will any manager want to come in until the end of the season and not be able to bring his own backroom staff? Will changing one man actually make that much of a difference when you still have the likes of Phelan/Carrick and others there? The whole management/coaching/recruitment structure needs binning off and starting again, for what the 4th or 5th time in a decade?
