Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [22nd - 24th October 2022]

Don’t get me wrong, the money has helped, but it’s not like all of the players have been replaced since this time last year when we were in a relegation battle.

Don’t underestimate being free of Ashley and having a decent manager at the helm.

Newcastle's net spend in 2022 has been the highest out of all premier league clubs.

Annoying thing is that I had a bet on for Newcastle to win and get the most corners and get the most shots on goal, which was worth £900. Daft geordies let me down on the shots on goal.

Remind us of pogbas and cr7s wages again?

Our highest wage is circa 120k

What has Manchester United got anything to do with Newcastle having the highest net spend in the year 2022 and suddenly they are doing fantastic in the league?

Eddie Howe and having no Europe definitely helps their cause but cash injection is always the most important. Just look at Liverpool and Spurs. I would wish as a United fan to have the capital that both City and Newcastle have. Enjoy it but don't try and justify Newcastle's new found form as being something magical.

What's you point? You really wanna argue about spending looking at United's over the last 5 years?

My point is solid investment can do wonders to a football club in such a short time. Everyone said it would take years for Newcastle to get up like City but the difference is Newcastle are a big club and City are not. I said before they would get Europe this season.

Yes, the money has helped immensely.

I think there's been a little bit of the message rubbing the wrong way, where we (nufc fans) are being told we're buying the league.

The large investment this year has only been required thanks to the lack of investment in the many years prior. Going forward I doubt we'll spend anywhere near as much per window, then fall into the pattern of spending of other PL teams.

The fans are pointing out that there are a number of players in key roles where are now performing much better under Howe (and we could see that in the stats of last season) than under the previous incompetence, and are trying to acknowledge that the manger is playing a key role.

Give the 200+ mil to Bruce and we'd still be relegation fodder.
