Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [23rd - 28th April 2022]

Given the hysterical comments you came out with on here regarding Newcastles takeover this is quite funny.
Yep fair one, I hung my hat on that one and fell flat on my face, all I’m saying is a lot of Liverpool fans wear a massive set of red blinkers and will never take them off when things go your way when they shouldn’t.

You see all supporters doing it.

Yep you do your right, some are just a little worse than others. Don’t get me wrong Everton didn’t cover themselves self in glory yesterday and fully deserved to lose, but that doesn’t hide away that they didn’t get some decisions they should have.

I cant remember the last team(I’m guessing it was Newcastle) that started time wasting at the 10 minute mark.

As for Richy, you could clearly see his ankle get clipped, so I'm sure he was in quite some pain.

I didn't see any contact but I did see the still photo on twitter today and his ankle was bent so far over. I can see why he went down. He's lucky he didn't get injured how much he rolled his ankle.

If that picture is real, he's pretty lucky.

I find it all a bit pathetic to be honest. Lampard deflecting his teams awful performance, their cheating and time wasting and somehow this is the refs fault.

Awful manager.

Don't have any issue with it, they all do it. Whinge about what ever they can when things aren't going well. Klopp does it. I've lost count of the number of issues he's found unfair compared to x and y. Liverpool have had plenty of **** housery players over the years. When they drop down the table a bit of the quality dips it will return like everyone else. Liverpool played a strong side, stronger than I expected and Everton were weakened even further than the low bar they have with injuries. In that respect the tactics where spot on until Klopp calmed them down at half time.

Mane could easily have been sent off for putting his hands in the Everton players face and Everton might have pulled off a draw. They ran a risk of having one of their own sent off but they had nothing to lose. No one expected anything from the game for Everton.

Everton are going down and I don't see them bouncing back up. I think lots of fan will be happy when this happens but come next year when there is no derby they might miss it (and the six points). I think they may become the new Man City or should I say the old man city prior to the Saudi money!

The tactics werent spot on as they are literally breaking the laws of football. Had Pickford being given a yellow early on then he doesnt do it again.

Im not at all surprised that people are siding with Everton here. Why they'd want to see that kind of football instead of free flowing football is beyond me.

I want to see Everton go down and Liverpool lose so pretty neutral in that respect ;). It was a penalty in my mind, clumsy from Matip, soft but still a penalty and one I'm 100% certain would have caused outrage if it wasn't given the other way. The time wasting was horrendous though as was Richelson. They need to do something in the rules to stop players just laying down and expecting the game to stop, also VAR need to punish people feigning head injuries.

Nah i dont agree there. The amount of outrage over this is nothing compared to what happens when Liverpool dont get a decision. I mean was there outrage in December when we played Spurs? Kane off and a pen for Jota was clear as day. I dont remember it being this much.

I would take time keeping away from the referee, have an official timekeeper who stops the clock everytime the ball goes dead, stops time wasting dead, half would probably need to be reduced by 5-10 mins though

Might want to have a look back through the thread, you seemed pretty angry that you weren’t getting decisions

The fans of big clubs hate being spoiled by teams with anti football because they know if Everton or anyone outside the top 6-8 try to play free flowing football it's easy, pathetically easy for a Liverpool or City to pick them apart week in week out. Everton barely had a player that pass the ball in midfield. They did what they had to and it still didn't work but if they tried 'free flowing football' they would get murdered. Any of their previously half decent midfielders is either injured, not fit enough or waiting to spend some time at Her Majesties boarding house. DCL is already at Arsenal.

They tried to pass the ball with Roberto. It was laughable how many goals they shipped. Sometimes you have to play with and make use of the players you have. The only chance they had was to try to get Liverpool down a man or 6.

I think it's been worked out before that usually the ball is in play for 30 minutes or 45. So you would be looking at 30m halves. I'd be happy with that too. We all get frustrated when it happens to our teams, but wouldn't mind a bit if our teams did it.

They dont have a player to pass the ball because they didnt have anyone in midfield to pass it to. Theres playing a low block but then theres playing a low block accompanied by breaking the laws of football and cheating. Regardless of what people think, that was cheating, plain and simple. I've seen many a team take the game to Liverpool this season and it get very ropey...you only have to look at previous threads where I and other posters have commented on poor game management because the other team has actually tried something.

I did and here’s another angle, I have seen you absolutely fuming about decisions you haven’t got this season and rightly so with some of them, are you trying to tell me you wouldn’t be fuming if this wasn’t given for you yesterday

Gordon steps in front of Matip causing the contact. Its so clear on one of the replays. Its just never a penalty, Gordon has been watching too much The school of Harry Kane and how to win a pen.

If my team won this pen I would be laughing my head off.

That happens all over the pitch and usually ends up as a free kick. Players fabricate a foul by just sticking a leg in front of an incoming challenge. I don't think this challenge is a particularly bad example of it. Still a pen.
