Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th - 27th December 2021]

Rangnick hasn't even been here a month yet, in the middle of that we've had a covid outbreak, staff leaving, and the players are a bunch of lazy/whiny sods.

A tall order to expect anything just yet. Thankfully, a couple of signings might be due in the transfer window, I think without that, we're stuffed.

I presume we don't do zoom calls etc.

You know since rangnik took over we average 1 goal per game. Against the bottom clubs in all competitions.

Norwich bottom of the league -32 GD
Newcastle 2nd bottom -23 GD
Palace 12th -3 GD

Young boys 4th of 4 -5 GD

You people all know this right?

Yeh but players had 3 yrs of crap training under ollie give it a bit of time before passing judgment it took fergie 3 years to get us playing right and while we have mcfred we ain't going to win much at all with out proper training and as for zoom I take that was a joke comment you can't train as a team when you've got covid nick you have to isolate and zoom ain't man to man training

Its impossible to know what the crux of the issue is really. Only people like Rangnick can probably tell us that and they aren't going to come out and be honest about it.

I would suggest that its probably a combination of the following:

Players who are overpayed and have had years of being praised and rewarded for putting in the bare minimum effort.
Managers playing favourites and being unwilling to drop players underperforming.
Poor team balance.
Poor training and coaching over the past X years.
Players power.
Low expectations.
Lack of true leaders.
Ronaldo.

Rangnick has his work cutout because he is asking the players to do the complete polar opposite of Ole. Ole had the players either trying to counter-attack or playing at 2mph in front of the opposition low block. Its clear we never trained quick passing and movement or positional sense when you see the number of passes going completely astray when they try to play with any urgency at the moment.

What worries me is that fans are going to turn on Rangnick quickly because he isn't Ole and most football fans barely have two braincells to rub together. Most of our fans didn't see any issue with playing like utter **** 80% of the time and winning games through luck and simply having a squad that is 10x better than most of our opponents. They couldn't possibly see any issue with having a team that plays like trash and yet has aspirations to beat teams with as good squads and 10x better coaching.

Hopefully we will bring in a CM in January which will steady the ship and we can put together some sort of run of form and push for top 4.

Arsenal are looking good at the moment but blow hot and cold so I think it could be a good fight for that last spot.

Fabhino is a special player in the same mould as Kante but that isn't where Fernandes would play.
Ignoring the rest of your views, as they've drawn enough replies, this is such a lazy opinion.

Kante and Fabinho are nothing like each other. Fabinho is a sitting midfielder that both protects his CB's and is also expected to get on the ball and build attacks. Kante doesn't sit. His biggest strength is the way he gets about the pitch, winning the ball back all over the pitch.

Kante is the perfect example of a top class player that isn't necessarily suited to playing for all top sides. For Chelsea, alongside a Jorginho type he's perfect but he's not good enough on the ball to fit into Liverpools and certainly not City's systems.

Every team has had this really. Barring the staff leaving but that was our choice.

Oldham who are bottom of their league scored more goals in 1 game against top of their league than we have in the last 4.

And they have big problems where they are barring their fans!

If you think our results are anywhere near decent you're just wrong and if you think our circumstances are worse than other teams you are kidding yourself.

Look at our midfield sideways passing or backwards we need better midfielders to get the ball to the forwards tell me one team in the top 6 that would have mcfred in there starting 11 they were bad under jose and ollie also look at the coaches jose had mckenna and Carrick same staff as ollie now they've gone so we will see what Ralph does when he's had time to adjust them to playing his way I predict we will score more than 1 against some of the teams we play not all of them obviously

And other teams have had a manager and coaches longer than we have so they have a style of play that they know it takes a while to get a style of play set up klopp took a bit of time but look at Liverpool now they play his way and it's good to watch if your a pool fan obviously it's not good to watch if your a united fan but even a united fan has to appreciate the style of play klopps got going at Liverpool

McFred were lauded a game or two ago. As a new beginning.

If our midfielders are worse than Newcastle, young boys or Norwich you're having a giraffe.

1 game how many we played nick I suggest you go back and watch the rest of the games we've played and who cost us the most points this season

Who won the midfield battle last night that's right Newcastle did if you can't see this well I suggest you give up nick

Wilson could be out for months.

That’s pretty much the final nail in the Newcastle coffin for this season
It’s been known that we need to sign a striker in January, that hasn’t changed because of Wilson’s injury, he’s only at The Toon because of his injury record, if he didn’t get injured so much he would be at a far better team than us

I'll never give up.

That's what makes me a fan. That I want better and I'm prepared to ask for it.

If I see Leicester putting 4 past someone one week and we draw with them 1-1 the next week,it's right I should be asking questions.

We lost to liecester nick so not a good example  but I do get that point

I don't think money has anything to do with it. Who are they going to attract who will end up playing in the championship?

They can throw a couple of hundred million at players and improve their squad a fair bit. They are only 2 points behind Watford and 5 behind Leeds. Not talking world class players but realistic and decent players like Lingard etc. If they had a touch more quality yesterday they would have beaten Utd comfortably.

I can see them staying up with a few decent buys.

If I was a player coming to them I would want a clause in my contract gaining a free transfer if relegated. It is not like when City started splashing the cash as they were already a mid table team.

A move to Newcastle is a massive risk if it all goes pear shaped.

Norwich City got a few good loans from top teams and look how well it has done them.

Not sure there is that much risk to a player. They can always move on easily enough in most cases.
