Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Aug - 1st Sept 2022]

You've got to worry for Leicester. I don't think they're in danger of going down this season but they've gone from looking like they can challenge for a CL spot to nothingness in the space of 15 months. There's seemingly no money available and a lot of their key players have left, want to leave or are on their last legs.

No amount of fags & red bull are going to get Vardy back to his best and it's difficult to see where the goals are going to come from other than a set-piece from Maddison.

Great result, a very dodgy second half performance, but the team is starting to look quite settled defensively. Midfield and attack are still questionable.

I think ETH just needs to find a balance he's happy with. Sancho - Martial - Antony is going to be an interesting front 3 to watch.

Ronaldo should be able to be effective when the rest of the team is working well, hopefully.

Agree with all of that, except we are definitely in danger of going down. If things continue like this I don't think there will be 3 teams worse than us.

Tempo was really poor. Arsenal do not play at that pace. However, I'll take that tonight - 3 wins on the bounce and a resilience that we haven't seen often enough. Lots to improve on and hopefully the lad Anthony gives Rashford a kick up the arse.

Was it the death of your owner that did it? You were the poster boys for recruiting well, selling well and getting Champs League money on top.

Now your squad is falling apart?

We have too many midfielders not comfortable in possession. McTominay has too many issues in general in his game and Fernandes is still the same player he was when he arrived, taking lots of low percentage passes on but now hes not hitting many of them.

I'm hoping that Fred, Casemiro and Eriksen become our midfield trio and then we have Antony, Sancho and Martial ahead of them. Just not sure if that will be too lightweight.

McTominay is clearly not the answer. However he might improve playing next to Casemiro. He's had no development really and at least you know he'll put in a shift. That's not enough to challenge at the top level but it gives squad depth and options when you need girth in the middle vs finesse. I'm more concerned with where we find goals. We don't create enough and if Rashford is out CF then we are fubarred - he's awful in that position.
