Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th - 6th March 2023]

I think the most pleasing thing for me is that we actually kept going once we got to 5, in seasons past when we've been sticking 4's and 5's past this lot it's seemed as if we have taken pity and stopped trying, not this time, we kept going. Good stuff, only worry is that the few times we've hit 7 goals in recent seasons is that we've subsequentially found it hard to stick the ball in the net.

re the video above, Souness isn't wrong, Man U are regularly on the receiving end of spankings, They concede 4's, 5's, 6's multiple times a season. It wasnt a freak result.

That not what Neville was saying. He was saying since Ronaldo went that wasn’t seen by anyone as coming and is a freak result considering the form under ETH. I mean if Souness saw it coming, why didn’t he say it before the game?

Tbf, he did say Liverpool would win comfortably pre-game. Neville laughed at him.

I just looked through the results and got bored at 2015 but since then they have lost by 5 goals 3 times. Twice against Liverpool and once against spurs.

Yeah But that’s not predicting a 7-0 spanking. That’s incredibly open. You can win comfortably 2-0.

Predicting a 7-0 is quite specific but the underlying point he was making is that Utd are still prone to fairly conclusive beatings. It wasn't as if Utd haven't been well beaten before this season, much in the same way Arsenal used to get tonked at least once a season a few years back - pre game nobody would have predicted the scoreline but at the same time, it wasn't really unusual for Arsenal. Over the last few seasons Utd have shipped 4+ goals in a game a lot of times now, it's not a massive shock for Utd to fall apart defensively.

Had the ref done his job today and sent off a couple of Utd players, we could have been talking about Erik ten Nil.

I think it's more of a shock for the team to fall apart when there's Varane and Martinez at centre back with Casemiro ahead of them, based on existing form anyway.

The squad is still fairly patchy and it's early days for Ten Hag. There have been a lot of positive signs lately but this has highlighted there's still a long way to go. Winning the Carabao Cup isn't really anything to get too excited about, at least for me.

It is also just something that happens though, not too long ago Aston Villa put 7 past title holders Liverpool in a league game.

Konate had another great game today. Pace, strength, intelligence and unlike the far more expensive centre back playing for the opposition today, he is actually tall enough to go on theme park rides.

Edit: The analysis of Antony is pretty scathing, barely walking around the pitch and gave us so much space.

Harsh. You only have to be 120cm for most rides at Nickelodeon land at Blackpool.

Antony gets away with absolute murder for just how garbage he is. Nunez got pelters for months and we all said it will click at some point and its starting to. With Antony I don't see what he's supposed to actually offer.
