Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th - 6th March 2023]

Feel like we’re (Brighton) going to struggle a bit to keep up with the pack with our schedule for the rest of the season.

3 games in hand against some teams and in the QF of the FA Cup, gonna end up playing every few days. Hopefully they’ve got the legs for it.

Interesting stat I saw today, Nunez needs 3 more goals this season to match the goal tally that Suarez got in his first full season at Liverpool. Not saying he is as good as Suarez but certainly shines a little more realistic light on the idea that Nunez has flopped.

He has something like 18 goal and assist contributions in 21 starts, A goal involvement every 105 minutes plus one of the highest big chance creation stats.

Been a great signing

The whole concept that Nunez is a flop is a complete joke. The only reason he was even being called a flop is because Haaland was bagging a tonne for City and people were comparing price tags. I can think of a lot more players who have been signed for 80 mill in the premier League who have been flops. Especially in the last 3 years....Nunez is doing fine and the way pool are playing, I'm pretty sure he'll be getting on the end of a lot more chances.

I'd says he's been doing amazing considering the creativity out of the likes of Henderson/fabinho, compared to De Bruyne/Foden and Mahrez.

He's not been a flop by any stretch of the imagination. If you want a bonafide flop of the season then look at Antony, doesnt look like a 20 million pound player let alone one that cost nigh on 100 million (although Mudryk would give him a good run for his money if he had been at Chelsea since the summer)

He was being compared to Halland at the beginning of the season and Halland has blown him out the water.
I think thats probably the problem, Haaland is, to use Neville terminology , simply a freak of a goalscoring machine. I've no doubt that by the end of his career he will have smashed the goal tallies of the likes of Messi and Ronaldo, especially if he goes to play in Spain (which I think is inevitable)

14 goals and 4 assists in just under 1900 minutes. For a non penalty taking forward (not that we get pens) that's an excellent return. He can be ungainly at times and missed a a fair few chances but most of the stick he's received is senseless banter - I don't believe that anybody that's watched him regularly can't tell that he has something about him.

On the Suarez comparison, he's clearly not as technically gifted but he has the same tenacity and energy that Suarez had and has the physical attributes that Suarez didn't have. That tenacity combined with being 6ft+, strong and lightning fast makes him so dangerous all the time. He just has a way of always impacting on games, even when he's not playing great. Take the first half yesterday, we struggled to get him into the game in the 1st half but the clearest chance of the half still falls to him.

Blown every forward out of the water, doesn't mean they are all having bad seasons.
I didn’t say he was but he was being compared directly to Haaland as 2 new strikers at the 2 best teams. One’s done well the other has been a sensation. Rashford out scored Nunez and he’s not a proper striker.

Nunez definitely has something about him. He's truly explosive.

It's hard to really predict just how good he may be - could go either way.
