Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [5th - 7th November 2021]

So just because this wasn't given means it wasn't a foul?

I suppose Cresswells tackle wasn't a red then?

Oh come on omnomnom, please don't make me point out the obvious by quoting your own posts - you're better than that.

You said that based on what's given weekly, that's a foul on Allison. I showed you an example where it wasn't given, disputing what you said. How that relates to the Cresswell tackle, I don't know.

Carragher said it wasn't a foul and I'm sure other Liverpool fans in this thread came to the conclusion that Allison should have done better. I.e. even other pro-Liverpool fans don't believe it was a foul.

How many times do we see "fouls" on goalkeepers lmao?

What on earth is his right elbow doing here? He's literally stopping the goalkeeper challenging for the ball.

His elbow is in an elevated position, pretty normal for athletes when they use their arms for leverage to maximise jump height and your arms then naturally come back out to help with balance as you prepare to land. His body is also perfectly straight, I.e. he's jumped straight up and not jumped backwards into Allison.

This also wasn't given as a foul, player with their arm in an upright position as Ogbonna and a player pushing De Gea in the back.

Liverpool didn't do too badly last year with the refs, so we need a few more them.

Now I admit that most fouls aren't cardable offenses, but it's a safe bet you get more benefit than most clubs from the refs in general.

What has that got to do with what happened today lmao?

If anyone wants to explain why it isn't a red feel free.

That isn't remotely close to what happened lmao. How about VVD and De Gea...post that.

Was listening to the NBC stream for the game and Le Saux was co commentary, he was certain that the var check would rule out the goal as it was a foul. I can understand why it wasn't given, some goalkeepers seem to be getting a lot less protection this season. But the creswell challenge is a red, clear as day.

Stills are never good for this sorta thing, his arms are up as that's how you get momentum for a big jump. They sorta jump into each other, with Alisson trying to punch through Ogbonna, if it wasn't for Alisson his arm would be by it's side as he's coming down (you can see his other arm is down).

See the VAR bit around 30s:

Don't think the first goal is debatable, absolutely nothing wrong with it and simply an Alisson mistake.
100%, goalkeepers have been given some utterly bizarre protection in recent times. I think if the challenge was in previous seasons it would be given as a foul. It's comparable to the VVD and de Gea one from a few seasons ago, both keepers needed to be stronger.

That happens next week just watch it be disallowed. If they are consistent then fine...but I guarantee that gets disallowed any other week.

Depends who Stuart Atwell is the var official for, this is his reasoning for the creswell challenge - It didn't have the required force, or intensity, or clear contact’ - which is why he didn't overturn the decision. So lunging 2 footed and off the ground is perfectly fine for him.

Even as a Pool fan I dont think it was a foul on Alisson and I dont think the Henderson challenge was anymore than a yellow.

West Ham had a park the bus game plan and it worked, fair play.
