The worst part about it is with VAR you can't even give the officials the benefit of the doubt and argue the referee didn't see it properly, they've knowingly given an absolutely dodgy decision.

Fernandes did buy the penalty no doubt about it. Basically jumping into the box but it did look like he would have been fouled outside had he kept his feet on the ground.

United need another because one will not be enough. Villa are playing their hearts out.

The problem is the way VAR is being used. The VAR isn't being asked to check if the correct decision is being made but whether you can understand why the ref made the decision, which is barking mad.

The craziest thing is this isn't the worst decision Utd have had. They got a penalty vs Norwich for a James dive that the ref didn't give but VAR overturned :o

Not only did he jump in the box he stamped on the defenders ankle. Its a red card.

How VAR can look at that and give it is beyond me.
 
Utd fan here, no way in a million years was that a pen. Looked so blatantly obvious, absolutely ridiculous.

I’m not sure stomped is the right word. He’s just tried to spin and landed on the defenders leg.

I don’t agree it’s a penalty either but I’m not sure it’s as bad as you’re making out.

Refs should be forced to check the screen like they all did in the world cup. They all do it on the continent but it is like the stubborn English refs frown upon it.
 
Utd have had 13 penalties in the PL this season, Salah has been fouled just 16 times in the PL, Jack Grealish (before tonight) has been fouled 151 times.

I've switched it off.

VAR has ruined the game for me, for every decision it gets right there are numerous ones it gets wrong.

A cure that is much, much worse than the disease.

What is really bad is that you didn't need hindsight to see this coming. This exact outcome was predicted at the time.
