Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [8th - 10th April 2022]

Lucky result really, I'll take it. Hard to see L'pool overtaking City with their respective run ins but I can hope. City could drop points, especially as they've got other competitions going, but Spurs is a tough game and United, despite their awful form, are capable of producing the odd good performance. We shall see!

Great game of football.
City the better team first half was a fair result i thought.

What is going on with Salah though

He's played the most minutes of anyone in world football. He needs a break. Id bench him for Benfica and the FA cup match personally. Out next league game is on the 19th, that's when id next start him.

The first half was very similar to the game at Anfield. We were trying to play our game but City really squeezed us and didn't allow us out. Like the Anfield game the game opened up in the 2nd half and we had more joy but I really think we made a mistake not starting Firmino or playing Mane central and Diaz on the right. It's hard to criticise Jota because of the goals he scores but when we're not on top in games he can be a bit of a passenger. The ball just doesn't stick when it's played into him and against a side like City you need an outlet, who you can play the ball into and they can hold onto it while the rest of the side move up the pitch.

It's hard not to feel like this could be 18/19 over again, where we could win our remaining games, pick up a huge points total and be one point short. The only glimmer of hope is City don't tend to drop points when you expect them to - they typically beat the better sides and then drop points out of the blue. With our run of fixtures and a potential CL semi to come, it will be a big ask to win our remaining games though. A win today wouldn't have just meant City dropped points but it would have allowed us to draw 1 of our remaining games, which we probably can't do now.

At least they are playing teams fighting for something as opposed to say a Southampton. Newcastle (prob not tbf) Leeds, West Ham and Watford are all fight for survival or Europe. They wont be easy fixtures.

First half controlled by City and second half was all Liverpool. Both sides could've easily clinched the winner on a different day but on balance City came the closest and got quite unlucky.

I feel like (for once) the refereeing went in Liverpool's favour. Apart from one blatant Liverpool corner given as a GK (from Salah's only shot), many decisions went against City. Fabinho and Thiago each escaped a second yellow despite committing 2-3 yellow card fouls each. With 10 men I don't see Liverpool keeping City out for 15+ minutes in that game.

Liverpool once again showing unbreakable morale, doing what is needed and being the most annoying of thorns in the bald one's side.

What is going on with Salah though

No idea but he is going to need to find his boots again soon, a few weeks ago he had an 8 goal lead in the golden boot but Son is now only 3 goals behind and in very good form. With the way Son and Salah are playing at the moment there is every chance that Son will overtake him in the last 7 games and whip the Golden Boot out from under his nose.
