Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [8th - 10th October 2022]

It's a long old season, as we saw with Solskjaer and Man Utd, a good run of a few games doesn't guarantee anything long term. Arsenal are certainly doing well though, better than I was expecting.

The World Cup break is going to add a different dimension to the season too.

Casemiro has had a chance to bed in now, he's got to perform or we've potentially made a massive financial mistake. :o

I think that will solve Liverpool's season after the world cup it will essentially be a new season. Can remember when United came back after COVID and we were beastly. Didn't we win the COVID league or something silly? We went from 6th to 3rd and scored for fun. Before that it was terrible.

It doesn't matter what system we play when we defend as we are. The way we've played under Klopp has always been hugely high risk and when we drop just a few percent we're all over the place. There will be lots of people pointing the finger at Trent for the first goal but he's been sold down the river with one Arsenal playing running at him and two running off the back of him - he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't in that situation (what he done for the 2nd goal was bonkers mind you). We can't allow ourselves every single game to be in situations when teams have got untracked runners running at or in behind our defence.

Going forward we looked fairly ok, particularly in the first half but we can't expect the attack to bail us out all the time. When you're down on your luck things always seem to go against you too. I'm not sure I've seen many handballs like the Gabriel one not given in the past couple of seasons - his arm wasn't simply in an unnatural position but he actually moves his arm from behind his back to the ball. And then the pen against us probably was a foul but not one that you often see given. Sods law it went against us right now.

The Gabriel hand ball is an absolute stinker of a decision. They have since come out and said it was given due to the proximity of the player but you see them given, inc yesterday, all the time.

Can't see Arsenal winning the league, but that's really only because of how good City are. If something weird happens with City Arsenal have as good a chance as anyone

I don’t think Arsenal will sustain it to win the league but I think they will get Top 4.

Newcastle will be right up there though.

Newcastle are only 4 points ahead of Liverpool having played a game more, and Liverpool are having a nightmare start. I'm not sure that Newcastle are yet as good as people think. They may sneak a CL spot, but Arsenal and Spurs both look better to me

Been missing key players for most the season so far. Bruno/Wilson/Maxi. Don't expect Championship league but a wee trip to Europe would be nice

Yeah I think you've a good chance of top 6, but I'd say that top 4 is probably a stretch this year. Good chance next time round though if you keep buying well
