Greenlizard0 PL/CS/FA Cup SF Football Thread ** spoilers ** [15th - 21st April 2022]

Everyone has got worse since Ole was sacked, let's be honest. Rangnick is a complete failure.

Makes you wonder if there's any dressing room strife knocking around from the Greenwood mess too.

He's not lost his ability. He's just shot to pieces and seriously lacking confidence. He's suffered from the wider Utd problem of a club with no plan. Rather than growing in a side, with a clear way of playing and position, he's switched between playing as a striker and wide player, playing in different systems with different instructions from various different coaches. His confidence has taken a battering and he's stuck in a cycle.

He's not going to be a Mbappe or Salah but he's a good enough player to be a very good PL forward but maybe he just needs a fresh start now.

A team with a clear attitude and effort issue is never going to get fully on board with an interim manager who wants his players to be able to run for more than 10 minutes and press the ball and retain possession.
That being said he has made some pretty awful tactical decisions.

No he isnt...this is his level.

He's not very good.

I don't think this is his level, he has been unarguably better than his current performances that's for sure. 19/20 wasn't a bad season for him, 17 goals 7 assists. Sure 6 of those were penalties but even without stats, his performances were not leading to the level of criticism he's getting now. I.e. he has performed better than he has been this season.

Does that make him good a footballer? I would argue he has some good attributes when playing well but he wouldn't be the level of quality required for United to be a club competing for silverware. But there are plenty of 'good' footballers not playing for top clubs.

It's lazy to just blame Rangnick. This has been an underlying issue for years, for many managers.

Thankfully Woodward is now gone and hopefully ETH and his staff will be able to get things moving in the right direction, with the correct support above them.

Only thing I'm gutted about tonight is the fact I predicted 4-0 Liverpool before KO when chatting to my dad and didn't back it

Didn't even bother to switch the game on tonight - Knew we (Utd) would get torn apart, and zero interest in watching that....

Sooner the end of the season comes round the better.....

Total shambles and a massive massive off season for United to sort this total farce of a club out - Top to bottom clear out needed.....

No "progression" seen in the last 5-7 years - total stagnation...

Watching our second goal back, Matip didn't get anywhere near enough credit for his involvement in the goal. Great driven pass to Diaz to start with but then his second cushioned pass/touch to Mane was sublime.

Edit: Also, Maguire played a massive part in our fourth. Woeful pass to Sideshow Bob and then stepped up to play offside without anyone stepping up with him. Wonderful creativity.

Who was the Utd supporter on here that said Matip is the only player in our side that's not a baller! It was almost as bad a shout as those Liverpool supporters saying Nat Phillips should be ahead of him in the pecking order this season.

He's criminally underrated generally but his ability to carry the ball forwards is second to none, not just around now but for a very long time. Over the years we've been told about x or y being ball playing CB's that take 2 steps forwards and then play a sideways pass - Matip's the real deal, genuinely carrying the ball forward, giving us the extra man in attacks and making a real difference to the side.

Mitrovic hit 40 goals for the season tonight. That’s absolutely insane!
He's been unreal in the championship, just like Solanke at Bournemouth . I'm still willing to bet that they barely break double figures between then in the Prem next year though.

Quite a cringy interview with Ragnick. You can tell he wants to just say it, the UTD players didn't give a ****

Where is the top and where is the bottom?

I think part of the problem is united need to get some money back from the squad they have to reinvest. But united fans keep talking them down so badly I'm not sure who'd buy them.
