Greenlizard0 PL & FA Cup Football Thread ** spoilers ** [18th - 22nd July 2020]

I’m just so annoyed with them, they deserve nothing playing like that. Villa weren’t even that good, we just looked totally clueless and have thrown away our chance of finishing in the top 7.

Our only hope now is winning the cup so we should put out a weak team and rest most of the important cup final starters.

A lot of the games since the restart have been either both teams having a go or us getting battered by the opposition. Finally having the chance to have all the possession... they had no idea what to do with it and there weren’t many chances to get around Villa from wide positions because they sat back and played on the break. Clearly making a bunch of changes (necessary due to the schedule) didn’t help either... but really these are the sort of games where you need quick clever passing and imagination, or someone who is an absolute unit in the boxes at set-pieces. Arsenal have neither of those at the moment and bar some sort of gift from the opposition we’ll struggle to score consistently.

Their goal was a banger tbf, 9/10 that ends up in the stands.

Anyway with Wolves winning yesterday, there wasn’t really any chance of finishing in an EL place in the league anyway. It’s just really, really important they play like animals in the FA Cup final. Play whoever against Watford as it’s a dead rubber for both teams.

Tierney should have started, Eddie shouldn’t have, and as strange as it sounds, I think we missed Hector and Mustafi.

Bin him off to Peterborough or somewhere. Absolutely hopeless.

Seriously, how in the **** have we got to this position? We should have beaten Everton as well.
I really like him, he's much better than any other forward we've used this year (not that it says much!). If only he could finish.

Not gonna lie, whilst I typically have less pre-season optimism than many fans, I wasn't expecting to be sat behind Sheffield United and Burnley with a game to go.
Prior to the restart it was really the draws that had hurt us, only Liverpool had lost fewer games than Arsenal but now we've slipped to 5th on games lost.

Looks pretty bleak for Bournemouth now which is a shame as I like Howe, I guess the one saving grace is their goal difference means if they beat Everton by any scoreline and both Villa and Watford lose by any scoreline, they are guaranteed to stay up.

Of all the teams around the bottom, I was thinking that Watford probably deservered to stay up.

Until they sacked Pearson.

Wouldn't mind seeing Bournmouth staying up at the expense of Aston Villa though.

West Ham have done okay since the restart but out of all the away fixtures those teams have I think Villa have the best chance for a win.

Don't think Everton have lost at home in the league since November?

That being said if Arsenal play anything like they did last night then Watford have a decent chance.

Had a quick look at what the bookies think, Arsenal, Bournemouth and West Ham all to win is 19.2, so a pretty remote possibility. Which is a helluva lot better value than the 14/1 being offered in the "to stay up" market.

It'll be funny if they go down on goal difference now, I mean City can put 4 past any team on their day but sacking your manager prior to such a huge game where you need to protect your GD is insane.

I knew something wasn't right with AWB. He has looked knackered the past couple of games.

I also can't see Liverpool losing tonight. Not with the trophy coming out and all.

I'm happy for him to be rested for the Leicester game. I am surprised Fernandes is starting. He needs a break IMO.
