Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 12th February 2024]

They've always hated Moyes. As soon as the results stopped they were always going to turn on him and they've been really bad of late, with this topping it off. At most clubs he'd be gone today but the West Ham board have shown they don't really give a damn what the supporters think, after all they did bring Moyes back to the club after the supporters basically forced him out the first time.

They would be crazy to sack Moyes, West Ham is 8th in the league, above Brighton, still in Europe. What do West Ham fan expecting this season is going to turn out? Amongst it with Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal for the league? Sure they can hope, but realistically? I would put them doing better than expected even with today's result in mind.

It's not the position in the table they're not happy about but the way Moyes plays. West Ham fans have always demanded their team plays a particular way and Moyes is the polar opposite of what they expect. As above, West Ham fans and Moyes have always had an uneasy relationship - he saved them from relegation in his first stint as manager and they as good as forced him out and they've only really tolerated him while things have been going well. Today obviously topped things off but West Ham have been consistently playing rubbish and not getting results since the turn of the year.

Ask them if they would like to swap places with Burnley

Actually, perhaps they could do a poll, see how many West Ham fans would swap manager and places with Burnley.

It's not a binary choice of play **** and sit 8th or play attractive football and sit 20th though. For years this argument was always made to justify these turgid managers but we see more and more clubs the size of West Ham can be competitive while playing decent football too. West Ham have enough decent players that they don't have to worry about being in a relegation scrap and should be capable of playing decent football too.

It's the same with Palace and Roy Hodgeson. Hodgeson's worse as he'll tell the fans how lucky they are to play **** football too.

Generally agree but i would have thought Moyes would have added more methods to West Ham's game this year, Paqueta has a been a big loss though. Building a solid defence is the best way of getting that foundation in place for the other stuff, he's done that really well but they need to starting adding more elements. Phillips, JWP, Alverez and Paqueta, there isnt really a reason they can't start doing that.

One of the biggest issues for WH fans going off Talksport is the fact they defend thier own half, they don't do this defending really high up and on the front foot. Which i think is a bit daft tbh, people obsessed with defending as high up the pitch as possible.

I realise that, I realise they are not necessarily to play badly and be at the bottom. What they are asking for is having their cake and eat it. That would be the perfect scenario, a lot of teams tries and want that and they end up getting relegated. Considering where they are in the league, that is MY QUESTION.

Do they want their cake and eat it? Well, of course they do, people are greedy, but they also do not live in the real world but that is most football fans for you.

All supporters should want their club to be the best they can be but it's more than that. Football is meant to be fun, it's meant to be entertaining and for most weeks it's not when you've got David Moyes as your manager. I'm sure if you gave West Ham fans the choice of Moyes finishing 8th or playing better football and the likelihood that they'll finish 12th, most would accept and enjoy the latter more.
