Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11th - 14th August 2023]

Just recovered!! Start off little bit sad at seeing my number one pick for RW over 2-3 windows playing for Villa. Diably is superb. Can play in those pockets and boy knows how to score.

Might as well start the season off as we left it last. Smashing teams. Making good teams look ****.

Newcastle now have the ability to rotate the front 3 and midfield. By the looks of it players have improved again under a preseason with Howe. He has to be one of the best coaches around.

Half an hour to go and we’re bringing on Barnes, Wilson and Murphy. That’s a front 3 that would most clubs would love. Haven’t looked at the stats to confirm but that has to be be 40+ goals and assists maybe even close to 50?

Clair Balding - when he signed I Seen things I didn’t like mostly around his attitude. I did see some stuff on the pitch I liked. Defence splitting passes. Very direct runing and works as hard going back. He got injured for us last year probably at the worst time.

He started to win me round with regards to his attitude as it looks like he’s been humbled. Watched some of his interviews after the season. He was pretty honest. He said he wasn’t fit, miles off the pace and was struggling to take in what Howe wanted him to learn.

His ability to play across the front 3 and as a 10 will be vital for us. I can see him moving more to RW long term.

Best celebration in the league!!

Joking stats aside, Tonali had a great game for his EPL debut. All in all it was a great day however Villa were so bad at the back. We shredded their mistakes.

There was some great pieces of play between Tonali/Bruno/Barnes really showcasing the 1-2's and triangles that they like to play. Hope there is more to come, however there will be much tougher tests than Villa gave yesterday.

Really hard not to get too hyped but it's literally the first game. Isak does look incredible though

Mings getting injured had a pretty huge say on that scoreline I think.
Entire Villa defence was a mess, not sure Mings would have altered the result by all that much. As good as Newcastle were, I feel its a score that was more down to how bad Villa were. We'll get a much better idea of where Newcastle are in their next 2 games (Man City and Liverpool)

Yeah, Newcastle exploiting Villa's ridiculously high line like a TV presenter fills me with confidence about our game with them.
