Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [25th - 27th November 2023]

We've scored more than once!! WTF
Clean sheet and away win and I'll actually be moderately encouraged. Good to see Luke Shaw back, Mainoo was excellent but the rest were ...meh. At least they have battled but a team with Lindelof, Maguire, McTominay is pedestrian and not that solid defensively.

Aston Villa and Spurs have conceded more than us. Man City only 3 goals less. We were absolutely shocking in the early part of the season but now our injuries to key players are starting to come back hopefully this is the sign of the ship turning.

There almost seems to have been a psychological switch that's been flicked today. There hasn't been much 'panic' that's been endemic for the earlier part of the season. Who knows if this level of control can continue.

I think the early goal was important, several times this season we've not taken our early chances and heads have dropped when the opposition has.

We were poor first half but second half has been much better, Everton haven't had any chances this half.

Probably due to Shaw playing and Mainoo making an appearance and putting in a solid performance

The amount of chances and shots Everton should have put away though?

It’s encouraging but let’s not get carried away now…

Bar a battering by Villa first game of the season. Everton haven't lost by more than 1 goal with a full 11 plus away from home to Everton I will take it.

Real test will be Wednesday night if we come back from a result then we can starting being pleased.

I'm going to get argument from United fans, but two things:

1. You've been beaten this season by teams in and around the top 7, and beaten teams outside of that. Which to me says that you're the lower end of the top 7 (but you are in the top 7).

2. Your improvement in firm and addition of confidence seems to have coincided with Maguire's return. He's not the world's greatest footballer, but he's shown an unbelievable amount of character and I think he deserves a lot of credit.
