Greenlizard0 Premier League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Jan - 1st Feb 2024]

They need to sort out penalties and VAR.

The rules at the moment are:

Ref gives penalty - unless there is no contact its a penalty
Ref gives no penalty - unless there is very clear and serious contact, its not a penalty.

You can't have a system that relies on the ref making an absolute whopper to have VAR change it.

Just let the ref go to the monitor every time. No pressure like there currently is if the ref is sent to the monitor. Just let him have a second look at his decision. Yesterday, VAR should be telling the ref "there is contact, go have a look".

When VAR is just there to tell the ref when he he missed something and he should have a look it will be much better than this current **** show. I don't believe the ref would have given that if he looks at it again.

Yet somehow VAR just magically made a **** up to equal out the one they publicly apologised for earlier in the season, what a wonderful coincidence. And then ignored a more obvious penalty claim from us 10 mins later.

Oh FFS. Can't have Martinez out again. The whole defence is much better with him on the pitch. If for no other reason that hes a hype man. He enjoys defending and gees up the other guys.
