The amount of leeway Liverpool fans are giving him compared to some of our players is crazy. He's barely shown that he's good enough in well over a season now. He's improved, and I like how much he works, but he's not a good enough player to be a Bobby replacement, and he's not a good enough finisher to be an outright 9. He doesn't deserve more than 20 minutes here and there at the moment

Thats fine but his goal contributions are still very very good. It isnt about giving him leeway because he does contribute and often. He does need to put more away I agree but he's doing enough to warrant the minutes he's receiving. When you compare him to others in the league he's flying.

And just like that, an assist.

An assist which came from him turning into trouble when we had a 4 on 3...and even he stopped playing after making that tackle as he thought it was a foul!


Edit: don't get me wrong, I rate him reasonably highly, and like him, but I don't trust him as a player for a second, and I think there's only so far he can go.

So he didnt get the assist then?

Id rather he kept on going and not give up like some at other clubs. Like ive said, his numbers are very very good and he's just added to them.
 
Frustrating performance, leading to a needlessly nervy ending. For 3/4's of the pitch we played pretty well, not giving them a sniff and constantly getting in and around their penalty area but our final pass or decision making in the final third was SO bad today. Despite Sheffield Utd not even getting into our half for most of the game, the longer it went on the more you started to think an equaliser was coming then vintage Darwin, gives the ball away cheaply, makes a mad press to win it back and creates the goal.
 
If Villa can hold City to a draw, City will be 5 pts behind Arsenal. Though we all know how capable City are of going on an 18 game winning run in the 2nd half of the season.

He's got 4 goals and 4 assists in the league this season, and 9 and 3 last. You'll rightly point out that there have been a lot of substitute appearances, but until he tucks in 15 in a season in the league for us - which given our attacking line, should be very doable for our main 9 - I'll remain unconvinced. And I'm not convinced that he'll ever be a good enough finisher to get to that number.

4 goals and 5 assists in 8 starts.

He's a maverick but I've never seen a player since Suarez that's so involved. It doesn't matter whether he's playing well or not, he's just constantly involved in games, getting and creating chances. Even vs Fulham, just him being him resulted in our 3rd and 4th goals. He's rough around the edges but those will be polished in time, however he's got that spark about him that so few players have.

4 goals and 5 assists in circa 800 minutes in the League and 14 goals/assists in circa 1200 minutes in all comps. That's very good.
