Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread (and FA Cup) ** spoilers ** [23rd - 27th March 2012]

No one is bigger than Liverpool Football Club, he has said it himself, we should have the best of the best in each position and we don't have it in many.

You would struggle to make the case that KD isnt bigger than Liverpool FC.

No-one else would have been handed the reigns given his absence from the game and his post-Liverpool record as a manager. Also no-one else would have been afforded the easy ride that he has been given his results, tactics and signings. His conduct during the Suarez debacle was poor and his media image is horrific. NO-ONE other than Dalglish would be continually defended by Liverpool fans.

He was an incredible player.
His conduct post Hillsborough was absolutely incredible too
He won the double for the club

For the above he deserves legendary status - no doubt.

As a manager in the last 15 years he shouldnt be anywhere near the helm of a big club. If he was sacked tomorrow no club in the top two divisions would be in a hurry to employ him.

I hope Crouch scoring a one off wonder goal doesn't start this 'Crouch for England' bull again.
Why not? Who are the alternatives assuming Rooney will be one of the 4/5 strikers going. Defoe, Wellbeck, Sturridge, Carroll, Bent (if he makes it) and that's about it. Bar Carroll they're all pacey one dimensional strikers that haven't scored as many as Crouch this season.

Hmm... could be pivotal in the title race this one, didnt expect City to drop points here.

As for Chelsea..they seem content with 5th I guess. Riding their hopes on that CL cup.

He's not good enough to play for an International side, let alone one that's in the top ten on the FIFA rankings.

The style of football that Crouch / England play has won us what exactly since 1966?

Just no. I've said this for bloody ages.

Sturridge has been in great form, Walcott, Defoe, Wellbeck or Bent, I'll rather see Holt in the England squad then Crouch, Carroll? No chance either.

Crouch has the best goal to apps ratio of any English striker around.

Please, he scores goals against poor sides and does nothing of note in the 'important' games.

Jeffers has a good goals / minutes ratio for England too.

Sturridge - 29 games, 11 goals
Crouch - 28 games, 11 goals

Great form! :thumbs up:

And Defoe has? Poland, Andorra, Kazakhstan, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Trinadad & Tobago? Holland are the only good team he's scored against.

Defoe isn't the 'big man up top' and doesn't lend himself to the 'hoof' ball England resort to playing.

England need to learn and people's attitudes need to change away from hoof ball.

England have been left behind in terms of International football, the big man up top doesn't work.

I dont think its at that level TBH. I think its been nice to see people of all clubs wishing him well.

However i think a player tweeted "even if you dont believe in God pray for Muamba" which i thought was hilarious.

oh, Don't get me wrong. I think it shows how good Football fans can be in the way that everyone has come together to wish him the best but all the media attention and preaching as come across as Diana syndrome.

So when plan A of Rooney and a pacey striker doesn't work we resort to Plan A of Rooney and a different pacey striker? Spain don't have a problem resorting to Llorente if plan A isn't working so why should we?

That's not the fault of taller players, that's the fault of the management.

What has playing the ball on the floor won us recently? What have Owen and Linkear got to show for their goal returns?

I get where you are coming from. The updates on sky were beyond good taste. "Sky sources: Muamba has said something to someone but remains a cough and splutter away from death. Stay tuned for more pointless info"

I don't think Crouch is a world beater, far from it in fact. :p I do however think he should go, as he is a different option to our other strikers. He gives you the option of being able to play long ball, if it happens to be needed. He should be our Llorente, just not as good obviously.

Yep, 'hoof up to the big man up top' has worked wonders for England hasn't it.

Englands problems are numerous at International level, but four four two and a big man up top are just awful, sterile tactics.

Haha, do like the 'Well Spain have Llorente' excuse :D
