Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread (and FA Cup) ** spoilers ** [23rd - 27th March 2012]

7 wins in a row in the league now, fantastic result. :)

Good day for good goals as well what with the Crouch wonder goal and Arteta scoring a jizz worthy FK too! Yaya Toure's was a good hit, shame it took a deflection.

Defoe isn't the 'big man up top' and doesn't lend himself to the 'hoof' ball England resort to playing.

England need to learn and people's attitudes need to change away from hoof ball.

England have been left behind in terms of International football, the big man up top doesn't work.

Sums up EVERYTHING I hate about English football. Big Sam can get away with that tactic because "it works" despite results never quite "go the right way"

HATE hoof with a passion! Hate England even pretending its how to win (and we all know when we play crouch thats what we decent too)

Bogdan = Ron Weasley.

Yes! What a terrible individual!

Fantastic day of football and we didn't even play

Well we are top of the league :D (the championship) so it must have been a good day!

Did cheets go today?? Never found out...

I'm literally astonished by Crouchinho's goal, I thought his chicken legs only had the power to score within a 12 yard radius of the goal but he has proved me wrong, I can only assume working out with the agricultural Stoke playing style has beefed him up or something :p

Either way lol at Liverpool and Arsenal doing well ,7 wins in a row amazing that 7 different teams can all play so horrifically badly to let Arsenal beat them etc etc

just laughs at the Liverpool result

Well done to Spurs at stemming the tide - hoping this will start another decent run for them (could have done with a win, but a point against your nearest competitor for 4th is a good result)

Not going to comment at all on the City result until after the Fulham game (as I still think , on their day, they can be very dangerous).

This just goes to show how much of a sore loser he can be

Yep, 'hoof up to the big man up top' has worked wonders for England hasn't it.

Englands problems are numerous at International level, but four four two and a big man up top are just awful, sterile tactics.

Haha, do like the 'Well Spain have Llorente' excuse :D

worked for bilbao. just because you have a big man doesn't mean you have to hoof it. but having someone who will win the headers on the occasions you need to hoof it or for that matter cross it in can only be a bonus surely?

works for bayern too. they don't have to hoof it but they know when they knock it up to gomez that he is big and ugly enough to take care of himself and get the ball..

also think RVN.

Classic Andre Santos yesterday, managed to setup Villa's best chance of the game within 30s of coming on... :) Just have to hope Gibbs stays fit (which is quite damning in itself) as Santos is one of the most frustrating 'defenders' I've seen in years, with about as much positional sense as an unsealed baloon in a tornado.

If Wayne Rooney had scored that Crouch goal, the sun would commission another advert with a painted rendition of it and Terry Venables talking over the top of it.

The best thing about it the ball never touches the ground until it's nestling in the back of the net.

Man City must be thinking it's not going to be their title with worldy goals like that going against them.

So we are 3 pts ahead of the Spurs and 8 ahead of Chelsea...what a turnaround from earlier on in the season. Spurs doing what Arsenal do best, drop points at the rear end of the season and Arsenal picking up points...7 wins on a trot although its only a matter of time before we lose or draw:p.

Chuffed that we are in 3rd and i hope we can bag it at the end of the season.

Well done to Wigan for beating Liverpool though, shocker of a result there:p...not going to lie but it was lolworthy...Cheets64 must be over the moon with that result:p

who have arsenal still to play from the top 8?

spurs have played all in the top 6 twice now (and done badly from it) but i'm hoping we can start putting some wins on the sheet now.

we aren't playing well as a team though so it's going to be scrappy

The sad thing is it isn't shocking at all.

Well its shocking in that Wigan, a team near the relegation zone for most of the season have beaten you lot at your home ground. Dunno what the problem is at Liverpool but since your CC cup win, you have been slowly going downhill.

We were going downhill before it and maybe a loss isn't that surprising since we've drawn 10 at home is it? And we had lost 4 of our last 5 was it.
