Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 14th Feb 2012]

what happened was simple

Suarez should not have refused the handshake before the game, Ferdinand should not have done the same, Evra should not have started the trouble at half time and he also should have behaved better after the final whistle

None of them behaved well, not sure why it can't be seen that both were in the wrong

You've ignored me talking about Wigan/Bolton, come on :p

oops, missed that

You've not been great on the road and they've been the same at home so could go either way really, although I think the fact that Wigan can't score for toffee I'll go for Bolton :p

It is a must win game, scoring has been the problem worst score for in the football league, tbh not really bothered about going, going out for a meal in a bit so much more entertaining.

Love the Liverpool players firing in there like total hard men after Evra. I'm not saying Evra is a saint but at the end of the day, his team won and it's Old Trafford.

Liverpool beaten fair and square. So get off the pitch and get on the bus home.

Some double standards going about here.

well said!!

You can just tell the press are really upset that something more controversial didn't happen. They will re-run the hand-shake, Evra celebration every half hour with dramatic tones and headlines, because thats all they have
They must be so dissapointed that something major didn't kick off.

I really didnt think I'd like Neville , but to be honest I am loving his thoughts on all this, that you need that fire and passion and its what makes it such a good league.

As for the result, I am choosing to take it as a compliment to how great Liverpool are that it means so much to the Utd fans, I mean they wouldnt get so chuffed about beating Cheltenham, so I am choosing to take it as a compliment to our quality :D

Shouldn't we be talking more about the football, how utterly utterly toothless and rubbish Liverpool were, and how mostly not very good Utd were. Liverpool throughout had no, energy, they didn't try and tackle, they stood off Utd, upfront they were abysmal, both fullbacks were run ragged mostly by a team that wasn't trying very hard at all.

That is several games in a row I've watch Pool and seen Enrique make mistake after mistake while not being very good going forward, no idea where the Enrique love comes from, then again Liverpool fans were frothing at the mouth over Johnson at first.

Utd were stupid to let it get to 2-1, should have pushed forwards and sealed the game early, and stupid mistakes by Carrick and bigger one from Rio for the goal.

While I think Welbeck did well to try and move forwards as often as possible, as in he passed his fair share backwards but also tried to flick balls around the defender and run at goal, that is to be commended, his finishing/composure on getting in the box be it for a cross or a shot was pretty awful though, he looked closer to Ameobi than RVP when actually in the box.

Overall there was an incredible lack of quality football on show, Suarez looked timid, not at all sharp and like he shouldn't have started honestly, why they didn't go with Carroll and Bellamy to start in a game like this and maybe bring on Suarez IF the game was going well I don't know. Gerrard was awful, Downing was literally invisible for much of the first half......

On Evra, he was jumping around celebrating all on his own then the camera cut back to Suarez being close to him, it didn't show him run up to him afaik? Who cares anyway, why can't he get in Suarez's face to celebrate if he wants to, is it illegal? He's the "victim" and he felt vindicated, get over it.

I thought you were going to the game?

It's going to be a scrappy affair for sure I think.

let's concentrate on the football. This place has been weird since the incident.

Better side on the day, Liverpool looked short on ideas throughout but United lacked that cutting edge at times.

Ferdinand and Evans immense in the main (apart from the set piece goal). Tony V, Carrick and Scholes also top quality. Welbeck had amazing movement and touch but his shooting was woeful and that's a pretty big part of being a striker :p

Liverpool looked fairly sound defensively apart from two huge **** ups but never threatened going forward and had serious trouble with the quality of their passing at times.
