Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [10th - 15th April 2015]

The angle may be deceptive there, but on the replay he looked offside. Still, I find it funny how he scores important goals when he gets slated so much.

It was minimally offside. The defending and keeping was so poor that I'm not sure City can really complain.

People slate Fellaini because he's not the type of player who should be the most important man at a Man Utd team that has spent as much as it has. I don't like him because of what he says about Utd and English football.

It was hard to tell, definitely borderline. Regardless, I'm not sure City can have complaints

If he was offside he was offside, offsides have saved MANY teams, in fact all teams many time every single season from woeful defending. He was offside, I would say leg, head and arm and honestly I would say there were at least two Utd players offside, maybe the third as well, which with the ball coming across the two and going to the third was effecting the keepers positioning anyway.

It's pretty much absurd to say that an offside goal can't be complained about if the defending was poor.

I don't really like him because he's incredibly dirty. Always fouls, and often gets away with it. But meh, it's not his fault the refs are gash.

He can be an effective tool, and I mean that in every meaning of the word tool. As you say if refs booked him as often as he deserved he'd probably be banned for half of every season and become useless. A couple seasons back I guess it was the crap he got away with at Everton was absurd, he could/should have had at least 4 or 5 reds that season.

Thing is, I don't think there are many players that couldn't do what he does in terms of goal scoring, standing near a fullback and coming in late on the far post... that used to be something every striker and most wingers could do.

The biggest issue with Fellaini under Moyes at both Everton and Utd is, he bought him as a midfielder and he's pretty woeful there. The only times he was good for Everton was upfront when everyone else was injured, so on the basis of being effective(but should have missed half the season through bans) upfront.... Moyes spent what 30mil on him to play him in midfield.

You can take loads of crap footballers but give them a limited scope, limited responsibility and a specific job to do they can be effective. I wouldn't call Walters a great footballer but harass the defence and get the odd goal, anyone is capable of that.

They also are doing this one called 'winning', wish we could try it throughout the season

Don't get me wrong, as a football manager you should do what works, shamelessly. Mourinho is a master at it. Park the bus, waste time, use mind games. If you win, it's good.

My point was more that it amazes me that teams aren't seeing this. Yaya should be tracking Fellaini all over the pitch. Similarly, any full back bthat allows Valencia to skin him should be dropped. Show him inside.

In short, it annoys me because this United team does nothing impressive but still wins!
