Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11th - 15th January 2019]

brighton fans crack me up. The refs gave actually been pretty good in this one. Brighton just love a foul

You think? He's been shocking bar the penalty.

Brighton have had 2-3 handballs wrongly go against them, foul on Milner was at least a yellow + either than tackle by Milner was a yellow or Brighton player dived. He's been so trash for both

Henderson and Gini are beginning to wind me up, they're both playing the same role and refusing to carry the ball forward.

The Brighton players **** themselves whenever Salah or Firmino run at them from deep and we're missing that from our midfield currently.

Win's the most important thing but was an absolutely horrible performance against a very well drilled and stubborn Brighton.

An in form Keita's exactly the type of player we need to run at defenders but he's not getting the time and looks sloppy when he does.

Trent had a couple of shaky moments, did well if he was slightly injured although I think Klopp would have subbed him earlier if so.

Similar to some of our early season performances. Not at our best going forward but always looked in control of the game and never looked like conceding and we've always got a goal in us. Most important thing was to get the win today - hopefully we'll have a CB or 2 fit by next weekend and we can get back into our stride again.

Lol at Rio fuming at Jake Humphrey for spitting facts. Seemed quite emotionally invested, how weird. Another stupid **** to add to the list of Ashley sympathisers. Shame, thought he was decent pundit.

Ferdinand is talking complete nonsense. Newcastle have become a yo-yo club because of Ashley, because he doesn't want to spend a penny more than he thinks it will need to finish 17th. The money Newcastle spent when they got relegated was funded through selling Wijnaldum and Sissoko and the only reason why he allowed that to be spent was because he needs Newcastle in the PL to protect his investment. As for the "he's trying to sell the club" line - he's been selling the club for the last half dozen years and he's still there. Newcastle is nothing more than an investment to him and they've been for sale since day 1, providing somebody pays the price he believes that he'll eventually get at some point in the future.

Newcastle will continue to be the yo yo club that they've become until somebody pays Ashley what he wants. He's not actively looking to sell nor is he particularly worried about getting relegated again this season - he's personally rich enough to take a gamble of holding a decent squad (relatively speaking) in the Championship for a year or two if that's what it needs to get promoted again.

Shock horror in you don't explain, well worth a reply well done

Because you can't argue with stupid. If you watch that video and truly agree with Rio then you need your head shaking, even more so after I said that we have become a yo-yo club solely because of Ashley. 'Don't see your beef'. Howay, man.

So you decide to call me stupid well done so mature.

Ashley hasn't put extra money into your club but he also hasn't said no entirely when it comes to players, when you have sold player he has given some of that money back as you have bought players, problem is you bought crap ones

If he wanted to he could have said nope once players sold use youth, let you keep falling further and further down the league.

I don't dispute as an owner he is douche mind, clearly doesn't want to sell the club as he has been aiming to do it for yonks.

My comment of don't get the beef was how referring to I don't see how you could disagree with rio.

But hey I'm just stupid,

Ok, lets all play nice.

@Mark1989 your argument is flawed. He's spent the bare minimum he could to get Newcastle into the PL and what he thought to keep them there. Throughout his ownership Newcastle have sold off their best players and tried to replace them with cheaper alternatives - this is what caused them to get relegated twice and for them to be the club they are now.

Ashley is a superb businessman but how any football fan (other than Sunderland fans :p in fact they could have done with an owner with his financial sense) can defend him really does blow my mind.
