Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [11th April - 16th April 2014]

Have 'Pool pretty much won the league then?

I might have to stop watching football next season if they're going to be referred to as the champions :(

Looks like its down to the chelski game. Chelski need a win but a draw for Liverpool could let city back in.

Liverpool are on a good run, chelski and city are tripping their way over the line. Just one tough game to go I can see city dropping more points. Chelski are unpredictable with their lack of a striker.

Only liverpools to lose. Worth putting a fiver on just for the jinx :p

Everybody trying to Pigeon us!

We're in the driving seat but it's not on a plate for us. I still think we're going to have to win all our games and that's far easier said than done, especially when you've still got to play Chelsea.

If Sturridge is out for a few weeks, which he could quite possibly be, we're down to our bare bones for the next 4 games. One knock or moment of madness from Suarez and we could be stuffed.

He does some erratic things but I'm a big Skrtel fan. At his best he's up there with any other defender in the League and this season he's been at his best more often than not.

I remember saying 2 years or so ago that if he could finish he'd score **** loads because his movement in the penalty area and ability to get on the end of crosses is 2nd to none. Prior to this season he used to smash everything a mile over the bar though.

Yeah, said the same a few weeks ago. At his best he's phenomenal and at his worst he's a car crash but he doesn't seem capable of any other type of performance. A nice steady player like Agger is far easier on the nerves.

Sterling's got to be in with a shout for YPotY. I assume Hazard and Sturridge will probably be ahead of him but he's a changed man since Christmas and breathtaking to watch when he's running at defenders.

Agger's got an easy ride these past 2 seasons. He's been poor ever since Dalglish left and I can't see him getting back to his best either.

That £20m odd City offered 2 summers ago looks like a missed opportunity to cash in on him.

edit: and good of MOTD to show that Demichelis did in fact trip Suarez with his trailing leg and he didn't dive as many thought :p

Chelsea can barely score a goal away from home, never mind 2, so Liverpool should win that game, especially with it being between the two Atletico games, Chelsea's mind may be somewhere else.
3 wins and a draw with Chelsea might just be enough for Liverpool as I reckon City will lose at Goodison and draw at Palace.

Everyone thought City would dump all over Chelsea at the Etihad but Chelsea were fantastic and could've won by 3 or 4 goals. I still think we'll need to win all 4 games and each of those games will be the biggest game in every single players life.

Edit: As much as I thought Gerrard was EoL and wouldn't suit the DM role I'm delighted I was wrong. His performances against the big teams have been extremely impressive although I still think Rodgers should ask him for to show more discipline against the smaller teams rather than allow him the freedom to push higher up. Can't afford to do that now Henderson is out.

19....19!!! 4 years younger than hazard and 5 younger than Sturridge. If he carries on like he has he is going to be phenomenal

Was Sturridge greedy? Can't think of him doing anything wrong today.

As for his injury. Rodgers said he had a tight hamstring and rarely are hamstring injuries less than 2 weeks out. Hope I'm wrong.

Edit: yea, Sterling has been a revelation this season. He's not just becoming a great winger but a great all round player. He's been up there with Suarez these last few months and has been improving week by week.

I know, I'd personally set the age limit to 21, even 18, or change it so it can only be won by players in their debut season. By 23 most players will have had at least 3 or 4 full years of football if they're any good.

You are saying that to not tempt fate, I understand that. If it was another club you were talking about with the form and football Liverpool are playing and how their rivals are playing I think you would say it was on a plate, just about job done. You won't need to beat chelsea, you won't drop any points except maybe that game and I don't have the same confidence about the other two teams.

I'd love to say it's ours on a plate but the other teams we,face e.G Norwich next week fighting for there life so won't be set in stone, Chelsea at worst we could only take a draw as even of city won all games we would still win league by a point if my maths is right

Your maths isn't right, if Chelsea and Liverpool draw City can pip Liverpool by a point by winning their remaining games.

I don't see them doing that mind.

Yeah Liverpool need to beat Chelsea otherwise their destiny is out of their hands, I suspect that's why Pellegrini didn't look too worried although he probably is after watching them yesterday. :p

That's really not the case. I accept we're playing great and are favourites but it's not job done. Chelsea and City are both more than capable of winning their remaining games, which will mean we need to win all ours.

We'll be big favourites in 3 of our 4 games and while we'll still be favourites against Chelsea, it's far from certain that we'll win that game. And if Sturridge is out for more than a week (which he could easily be), we're only an injury away from struggling to field a competitive team.
